Default Stock alarm went off on its own?No one pressed panic.

Fellas today my car was standing in the driveway and the alarm went off as if I pressed the panic button but I did not. I have no aftermarket alarm, its the stock key and alarm. This has never happened before, what do you think it could be. I thought the GS alarm went off only when you press and hold Lock button on remote, or open a locked door from the inside but none of that was done. Any suggestions?

You know, my alarm kept going off "randomly", and amazingly, only when I was around. I must be a little slow upstairs because it took me until about the fourth time to figure out that the remote fob was getting squeezed by the arm of my office chair whenever I sat. Removing the keys from my pocket cured the random alarms. So, where were your keys when the alarm went off?

where was the keys at the time the alarm went haywire? In your pocket?

Who has the other set of keys? Wife/girlfriend? In her purse?

It happened to me once...the keys or another object in my pocket somehow pressed the lock/panic button....and the alarm went crazy.

Both keys are flat on my dresser, the panic button seems fine and isnt jammed up, the damn alarm just went off as I was typing this. My neighbors are gonna hate me until I figure this out.

They'll hate you, alright. Low battery will just decrease the range of the remotes. It won't trigger the alarm. For now, unlock the car and remove the batteries from both remotes, and take it from there one step at a time. First, manually lock the car and see if the problem reappears. If it doesn't, then replace one battery at a time and try to duplicate the problem, again, with one remote at a time. At least you should determine if the culprit is one of the remotes, or in the car itself. Good luck.

I think I may have figured it out, few days ago my hood lock had loose tension cord that pulls open the hood. So I was at the shop and my hood wouldnt lock so the guy took apart my hood lock and put some wd40 and put it all back together. Now what Im thinking is does the hood have the same characteristics as the door, in terms of when car is locked and the lock signals that the hood lock is opened may triger the alarm. Please chime on this investigation.

Yes the gs does have an alarm trigger under the hood somewhere. It could be next to the latch.

The alarm triger was connected after the hood latch was taken out and oiled up. I can get my hood to close by jerking on the hood cable and it locks. But I still get that random alarm going off even when the hood is down and locked. Will changing the whole latch fix this.
