Lexus service and cabin filter
Has anyone changed their cabin filter? Had it look this bad?
My car has had everything done that Lexus recommended. Manual states it should be checked at every service interval. Maintenance manual says it should be replace annually.
Opinions.

Yea, mine looked like that when i first bought the car. Save yourself some money and make one yourself from Home Depot, etc...
I used bananags's page. Go to INTERIOR - DIY make your own air filter. No probs for me so far.

Cool, never thought of that. I wish I would have found/see this before I bought one. $32 from the parts counter and $70 installed. I don't believe it is a hepa either.

Overpriced Cabin Filters
Hi,
I recently purchased my GS300 used. Apparently, it was dealer maintained and the cabin air filter looked worst than yours!
I was shocked at the prices on them things! I almost made my own (using 3M air conditioning filters) but found an inexpensive source of Bosch Cabin Air Filters on the Internet -- about $14.00.

Bananags says to pull the plastic cover out .... What does that mean?
My garage may not be very bright but neither am I when it come to DIY mechanics. I would love to do this and make my own filter but where exactly in the glove box?
Do I need to remove the glove box?

Open the glove box.
At the back of the glove box is a panel you can remove to make room to get the filter through.
Remove the filter cover
Pull out the filter in the tray.
You can remove the filter from the tray, it is not one piece as I expected.
You should be able to do this in the dark with a flash light, it is very simple.
