Default GS OEM HID Ballast swap...

I bought a new HID headlight. I'm in the process of swapping over the ballast but realized I can't take out the ballast from the old unit. There's not enough clearance to pull out the D2R socket. Is there anyway of getting this out? I need a anwser before night fall! Worst comes to worst I'll just cut and solder the wires together. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank guys.

Can you post pics of what you are talking about? I believe the ballast is mounted to the bottom of the headlight. Cant you just unmount it and then take the bulb out

all you have to do is back out the adjustment screw (where you aim your lights) and the d2r connector should be able to slide out. i'm not sure how many turns you have to go but this will work. i think the bolt is a 6 or 8mm head.

I already removed the headlight and was trying to remove the ballast from the headlight. If any of you ever taken out your ballast, you will notice that the socket to the D2R bulb won't be able to slip through the housing due to clearance. (The ballast mounts under the headlight and ballast socket goes inside the headlight to the D2R bulb.)

Well I'm all done now. I didn't want to adjust and take apart the headlight b/c it might ruin the glue and cause condensation. What I did was snip the ballast wires between the D2R socket and ballast. I then slipped the ballast wires into the new headlight and soldered back the wires.

Looks like everything worked out perfect and I now have two new headlights.

i'm glad everything worked out. you didn't have to snip any wires. i took off the ballast on mine without cutting anything. if you followed my instructions by backing out the adjustment screw, it would have given you clearence to take out the ballast connector. you didn't have to take the headlights apart.

regardless, it's a done deal. good luck with the swop.
