Default Wiper blade arms do not go down all the way on gs430

Hey guys,
I just bought 2001 gs430, and noticed that my wipers do not go all the way down like other cars around, as i understandf they should go all the way down under the hood so you do not see them when you look at windshield from the front mine do not. they work good but do not go all the way down. anyone know a solution?

The wiper arms have two positions on them. Grab the arm and push/slide them down. Just make sure to grab the arm where it's strong enough to support the pressure and now up by the tip where hte wiper blade goes. It'll take a little force, so don't be scared that you'll break it. At a certain point, it should just pop down.

Unscrew it first, then move them down, this way you won't wear the teeth.

I remember there was a thread with some cool hidden features about the GS. Tried searching for it and no luck..... Anyone care to chime in on this? Dave?

no need to unscrew them, just push them down and they will pop to summer location. they are designed that way, summer and winter position. not like you have to do it often

PineGreen is correct. It doesn't take much force to push it down. Just hold anywhere close to the base of the arm and slowly push it down. It will pop down.

Use up-setting for winter when you have snow, ice, etc.. for ease of cleaning and down-setting for rest of the season.

yeah, plus if it's at the winter position now, and if you just unscrew it and put it to summer postion, when you use the wiper, the driver side will not go all the way up to verticle, it will be couple of degrees short. someone ran into that problem before when he got his windshield replaced

Plus, when you wash the car, you'll want to move them up to the winter position so you can lift the blades up to better wash the windshield. The wiper arm will not clear the back edge of the hood when they are in summer position. And the force required may seem a bit excessive the first time you do this but no harm is done.

Just another example of thoughtful design from T/L..........

Btw, the explanation is on pages 29-30 in your owner's manual if yours is the original manual for the 01.

Refer to your owners manual.....its shows you how to pop it back down step-by-step (no need to loosen anything).
