Thumbs up

Thank you for posting up highmiles

From seeing your odo, I'm inspired to keep my car longer now I'm only 1/3 of the way only (~118k)

For 300k miles, I don't even see rock chips in the front

Front bumper is clean too! No rock chips?! Also, I am amazed how well the leather has held up. Please let us know what parts were replaced. I think you posted it somewhere, ie... 7 sets of tires and a few other little things...

Wow!
I'm impressed. I just got a GS400 myself. It has 76k on it right now, and I'm planning on keeping it for a long time (love it!). Would you let me know what kind of repair (not maintenance) have you done on this car so far? I'd imagine not much since you are happy with it enough to buy another one? BTW, it looks awesome for 300k mile car.
Thanks.

As others have said, a true tribute to your ownershp and to Lexus quality.
You may want to send this to Lexus. they may want to make a commercial
out of that. props!!
BTW - how many miles do you have on the new GS? up to 50k yet? :-)

may peace be with you.
-dave.

Default My Service Record on this GS

Honestly I have really done nothing special with regards to maintenance however here is a list of everthing I can think of that has been done to my 98 GS400.

MECHANICAL:
Replaced 2 sets of Front Rotors and 1 set of Rear (simply worn down from re-facing)
1 Coolant Sensor
1 Wheel Bearing
3 Brake Jobs (I think)
Ball Joints once
Every 90K service
Every Oil Change Done by Dealer
No internal Engine or Transmission Work

COSMETIC:
You will notice the wear on the radiator in one of engine photos which is a clue to the mileage. Those of you that have guessed that the front end looks too good are correct. Same is somewhat true about the drivers seat. My front end WAS very pitted.

When my dealer Lexus of Tulsa had their 06 GS Rollout Event they wanted to put a 1st Gen and 2nd Gen in the show. They asked if I would allow them to use my car and I agreed. They wanted the car for a week before the show for prep work. The day I dropped off my 98 GS was the same day my 06 GS 430 arrived. What a coincidence.

Anyway they repainted the hood and front quarter panels. I had just replaced the windshield which had a round crack in a blind spot that I couldn't see but I replaced it for the show. They worked on the front bumper but the company doing the work was not satisfied so they replaced the front bumper.

On the inside I replaced the center console arm rest because I had worn a hole in it with my elbow. I also put new floor mats in it. The driver's seat was worn and had one small tear in it. They took it to a leather specialist (I didn't know there was such a person) and he spent about 8 hours refurbishing the driver's seat and cleaning up the other seats.

BTW Lexus of Tulsa did all this work on my car for free. I know what you're thinking. I paid for it with all my services visits but I certainly don't look at it that way and am grateful for what they have done for me in the past and what they did to my car for the show.

DRIVING HABITS:
I am in my mid 40's so I don't look for drag races. My sales territory is roughly 7 states so virtually all of my driving is highway miles. However I do go to a lot of remote locations via 2 lane roads where I don't spend much time behind slower vehicles. I don't baby the car and certainly enjoy a good 100+ MPH pass or entrance onto a freeway like anyone else.

I have made NO modifications to the car and other than the items mentioned above is just like it was when I bought it.

I've got the 90K service coming up and am trying to determine what's preventative maintenance vs. throwing good money against good parts.

Great condition!

Thanks,
Eric
I don't recall ever changing the Water Pump as I don't think it is part of the 90K service. Only the belts.

That's a good question. I have two offers for $7500 and I think it is worth more. How much more? Who knows. I just feel it is much better shape that the value some Banker will see solely based on the mileage. I am honestly leaning towards keeping it.

Maybe some dealership out there might want to buy your car because they want it on display.
It has happen before to other high milage cars. Good luck with your 06 gs getting 300k miles again.

not sure about 300k miles then, that's not "that" much for those kind of display cars?
