Default about HID auto-leveling?

Hi all,

I am having problem with my HID auto-leveling, the headlight is not auto leveling any more. If I turn the light on for the first time, it goes from down to up and it stops. What I am sure about, that there is a mechanical sensor at the rear right near shock. It adjusts the headlight to a proper position if you have extra weight at rear end; because the light will tilt up. So I don't think it is the only sensor, I am thinking a gravity sensor is involved in this operation. Where is it? For example, In electronics there is a small chip ”Memsic 2125”, that I have for some projects. It gets affected by gravity, just like G-tech. so if anyone know something about the HID auto-leveling; I would like some feed back.

Thanks,
Alkattan

Default Is the warning light on?

According to my owner's manual, there's an "Automatic Headlight Levelling System Warning Light" on your dashboard that warns when there's a problem somewhere in the system. Also, when I turn on my car, the lights go through a cycle like the one you described. Hmmm.

Edit: Oops, sorry. Read your post more carefully: Your lights go up and stay up. My lights go up and settle down. There's a problem, alright.

This what I have found out,
According to Lexus web-site, Auto leveling sensors in left side front and rear suspensions detect vehicle posture and automatically correct headlight aim.
in view of that, I have my suspensions replaced with TEIN Type CS, that’s height adjustable. So I think it is possible something went wrong, during installation or the shocks are too stiff for the sensor to move. Or the front and the rear suspensions are not adjusted with the same length so the sensor is confused.
But since shocks are not affected when going up hill or down; why the lights tilt?

umm i am a bit confused about what you are talking about so i will post what i know and see if that helps.

first of all when you turn on the car, the headlight goes from low to high. that means the headlight is working? correct sequence is when you start it, it goes all the way down, and then up to the correct leveling.

second if you put loads in teh back and the light comes on, that's correct too coz' after so much load in the back the leveling is maxed out. that's no problem.

now if you lower the car not even front and back, you can easily max out the leveling as well. for example if you lower the rear quite a bit more than the front (some people do that to tuck the rear tires), it could be the case that the leveling computer is always maxed out in the low position, and the light will be on.

on the other hand if your car is lowered in such a way that the front is lowered quite a bit more than the back, the opposite can occur.

the fact that your headlights move on start-up, and the light comes on if you put load in the back, make me think the system is working fine no problem.

and yes, the sensors are on front and back, on the driver side

Is there anything I need to restart or I broke something when I installed them?! I think I did everything right and no problem. Any idea?

So will Tein CS mess up your auto level feature?

I just noticed that my driver's side headlight is lit higher and when I looked from the top down onto the headlamp the bulb shinny housing inside the headlight has a much bigger gap then the passanger, I must have moved it or something when I installed it.. I will try to redo it tomorrow and maybe try to move it back into place.. I hate when something does not go right after I do something to the car..

Guys for those of you that have auto level. The sensors are on the front and rear driver side. There are none on the passenger side. The sensors go by reference of the two wheels. I think it recalibrates everytime you restart the car. It senses if the front or rear tire is higher/lower during motion to do the auto levelling. It shouldn't even alter where the auto level is just by lowering the car unless the front is lower than the back or the other way around.

when i lowered my car 2" front & 1.5" back, the lights didn't like it. my lights maxed out, when i would turn the car on the lights would go up and stay there. grab a 8mm and play with the light adjustment. i think this is the problem you are having.

Default I have a problem with my HID headlights adjustment!

Ok here is my problem.. Can anyone look at your headlights and compare them to my pics that I included on the bottom of this post.. one of my headlights is not alligned correctly.. after putting the car on straight road, I started the car and saw the lights auto level and these are the pics of the way my lights are leveled, there is a problem and I must re-adjust them, but do not know how!

i think u might just have to re-aim the headlight manually to get them even.. it sounds like the auto-leveling is working
