My ABS VSC and VSC OFF lights are all on and my speedometer isnt working on my GS400. Any ideas on what could have caused this? All help will be appreciated. Thanks

You should also check your vehicle speed sensor. The VSS take the place of the speedometer cable. It sends the signal for the vehicles speed to the speedometer as well as the computer. It should be located on the transmission with a wired connector.

I had this happen to me last month when my coilovers were installed. The speed sensors were bad and the installation must have worsened the problem. It was repaired but can be expensive if you have to replace your sensors.

One interesting thing is that if I put the car in neutral while rolling, turn it off, and then turn it back on....the speedometer bounces from the speed I am going, and back to zero a couple times. But it then just goes back to zero and stays there.
The speed did seem accurate though, when the speedo bounced there.

First step is getting a scan tool and pulling up DTC code. That'll give you an idea of where to start as in checking sensor and etc. I had this problem come up twice when replacing a customers lower ball joints. Techs didnt support the knuckle correctly causing the abs sensor to strectch and disconnect.

I had this problem last week. My local mechanic changed my front end to Daizen bushing kit. I went to Lexus and they cannot reset the problem. Diagnostic came out that they have to replace 2 abs speed sensor. Cost of the repair $ 200.00 per axle. Total cost $500- Priceless considering my abs is working again.
Lesson of the Day- Asked your mechanic if he/she had experience working on Lexus. My Mechanic will cover the cost of repair.
