Default How many of you would actually want a manual GS300/400/430

I know how most of the SC400 guys feel about this and I'm just curious to see what you GS guys think. If Lexus did offer a manual trans as an option on the GS how many of you would opt for it? I for one would love to see MT's offered on some of the 400/430 series cars. Who knows though, maybe with the upcoming sport division this may be more of a reality.

A more intersting question would be - how many would not consider the GS if it didn't have an MT?

nice as an option, but for me it defeats the purpose of the car.

Now if a handling package came with it it would give the 540 a better run for the money

Traffic's not too bad here. I've driven manuals most of my life (and preferentially when there was a choice);there's nothing like doing the three pedal dance. I grant you that there are good arguments for autos esp with the current excellence of some of the manumatics, but to me, it's still the preferred method of gear selection................................assuming reasonable clutch effort, linear takeup, and a smooth, precise gearbox. Wierd clutches and vague, rubbery gearboxes need not apply..............

I don't think they'll do it for the GS4, but they should offer one if they really make a high performance version.

Actually comparing an M5 to a viper makes no sense. The M5 is a reasonably comfortable 4 door sedan that has been pumped up to have good performance. The car is a balance of utility and performance. The viper on the other hand was built strictly for performance with it's general purpose to be a raw sportscar. That is why the viper lacks so many amenities as it was built to be a modern version of the shelby cobra.

I'd take a MT anyday. They're very fun to drive. The E-shift sux. Using the E-Shift feels like I am in my living room playing a video game. The only difference is i don't have someone vacuuming the carpet or my dog barking in the background.

I would have at least done a test drive in one and if it feels better then the auto I would get it.
Just a manual doesn't cut it, they have to do something more, make it more sportier.

Good point Rich, perhaps if a MT was offered it would come with sport tuned suspension and more sportier accents.

I know a lot of GS drivers here are performance enthusiasts, adding FI and suspension mods to their rides. Even though the GS400/430 has stellar performance with the auto it seems a MT would definitely add to fun factor and extract more performance in some cases, particularly on the track. On the strip I know the auto has some advantages, it's easier to run consistent times and launch.
