black satin on white gs?
what do you guys think about putting a dark powder coated looking rims on a white GS 400. Would it match or should it stay with dark colored cars? Do they only look good on 2 door cars?

Although I have REALLY been feeling the dark hued wheels lately, they are better suited to darker colors (blacks, charlcoal greys etc). However, silver is an exception, I really dont know why, but silver cars with dark hued wheels look very nice (especially gunmetal).
There is a silver 745i with 22" iForged Retros in black with polished lip, and a 2" drop in my neighborhood in Bklyn, I every time I see it.
I vote silver for the lightest color to combine with black wheels, just my .02

That looks sick but it also ties in well with the dark tint and the polished lip helps break up the darkness. Also the drop on coilovers make the car. If you want an aggressive look go for it.

Black wheels are hot right now... I actually prefer it with a lighter-colored car like white or silver- it's too sullen on a black car (looks too much like a government issue Crown Victoria without the wheel covers).
I personally was over the black wheel fad about 5 minutes after the trend started. I remember guys were doing this with Compomotive and Epsilon modular wheels back in the early 80s (on RX-7s, and Porsche 944s, etc.)- it just looks old school to me (hey, maybe I am old!). To me, if I'm going to make that kind of investment for wheels, why make the wheels disappear by having them finished in a shade of black? Wheels make or break the car!
That finish on the M3 wheel is a shot-peened and black anodized finish on an HRE 847R 19" wheel. It almost doesn't matter which style you choose- you can't see it anyway!
The good news is when the black fad dies (and it will) you can always refinish your wheels in another color.

Update- if you team white up with a dark hued wheel, make it graphite!!!
I went to Waterfest today and there was a white second gen A4 there with 20" iForged Sprints staggered in graphite face with polished lips. That thing looked HOOOTTTTT!!! The dark grey finish/polished played off the white paint very well, for some reason it looked very smooth. I took a boatload of pics, I will post them after the weekend.
This car was one of my favs at the whole damn event!
