Default Bra on 2nd Gen GS w/Lip for Highway Trips

I don't really like the way they look. I don't want to put one on mine permanently. I personally don't like the way Xpel looks on a black GS, so not going to do that either.

BUT I just had my front lip repainted and molded in (pics to come soon) and I have a couple of long road trips I'm going to take in my GS... I don't want to immediately chip it up. So I'm considering getting one just to put on during the drives and take off when I get there.

Two questions:

1) Had anyone with a front lip (like TTE) used a bra? Any issues

2) Can anyone post suggestions on Bras they have used / seen for 2nd gen GS? Lexus has one in stock at my local dealer for $148, have not checked with our vendors yet, but I've got a road trip coming up soon and may not be able to wait for delivery. Need to be able to walk in and buy.

Did some research on other threads where bras been discussed:

I do not have a lip yet, but do have the colgan bra for long trips...works well, and it comes in two pieces: one for the hood (which they refer to as the sport bra) and one for the bumper...at the point it attached to the bumper, the material is loose so it may fit no problem...most of these bras need to be put on the car and sit in the sun to shrink a little/tighten up...so it could work for you...and they are very easy to put on and take off...you just don't want to leave it on for extended periods. They run about $99.

I have a Colgan Custom sports bra for the GS. I use it only on road trips. Wish I had the FULL non sports one though, especially after my little incident on the interstate. The sports bra saved my hood from being cut up by a bug guard that flew off an F-150 but if I had the full one it might have saved my fogs and my front bumper.

I've got a few old pictures of it in my gallery.

Also...I may get xpel...so I might be willing to sell it (only used it once) for $75 + shipping (probably $6-10 UPS)...let me know.

Also...anyone know where the best place to order xpel from?

TLW, you don't have a lip on yours do you? Just wondering how it will fit over top of that. Sorry, no trade tor the JP tails

I've got a trip this weekend so it will probably be a go-out-today and get it. Can you get the Colgan bra's from stores or only online?

Lexism, the Xpel thing is really only personal preference. Probably wouldn't bother most people but I can be **** (with captial A) about some things on mine. You have to see it in person to make a judgement IMO, pictures don't let you know. From a distance it isn't bad, but there is a clear line where the Xpel ends and the regular paing begins. Difference in appearance of the finish. I think it looks better on colors other than black... might still use it on my headlights if I ever replace them. Personally, I'd rather pay a couple hundred bucks every two years to get my front end repainted.

Wow. You can get the hood and bumper repainted for a couple hundred bucks? That's awesome. Pricing is not like that here. That's why I have X-Pel.

Yep, think it was $215 for the front pieces last time I did it. Good guy, quality work. I had him do other stuff on the car at the same time with some more serious damage done to lip from a racoon incident, dents in hood etc (that stuff costs more of course).

Cool My $.02

As a past user of vinyl bras (Colgan and Wolf) on many cars over the years and a current user of ArmorGlove clear bra I thought I'd chime in here on a couple of points:
~ I grew tired of the hassle of taking the vinyl bra on and off. Never cared that much for the look either, but was willing to put up with it for the protection.
~ Two weeks ago, I had the ArmorGlove front end (including lights) kit put on my GS. Did a lot of research on different clear bra products and settled on this product and had it applied by a top notch detail and body shop here in So. Cal. X-Pel is also very good.
I had them do a Crystal Guard treatment as well. I am EXTREMELY happy with the results! Haven't had time to post pics yet-hopefully in the next few days.
~ The ArmorGlove is virtually invisible on my car and even more so on dark cars I am told. Yes, you can see it if you look close and know where to look. I don't care in the least because the continuous no hassle protection is what I want! It's a LOT less noticeable than a black vinyl bra

BTW, I seriously doubt that the Colgan bra could fit over the TTE lip because they are made to fit exactly the contours of the bumper etc. I could be wrong, but I'd check before buying.

Here are the links to the products and shop I used for the "install".

Crystal Guard is a protective paint treatment- best way to explain it is to have you click on the link-they do a much better job of explaining than I would!
