Default What Model is......

What Toyota model is the sister to the Lexus GS series?
I know that the ES is theLexus sister of the Toyota Camery.
Is it the Avalon?
Just wondering.

GS is its own car, and the avalon is a extended camry platform.

As posted above, there is no Toyota equivalent to the Lexus GS.

The Avalon is much roomier than the GS in the back seat, Front Wheel Drive, and uses Toyota's 1MZ-FE V6 engine. GS's are Rear Wheel Drive and use Toyota's 2JZ-GE I6 or 1/3UZ-FE V8.

Yeah thats one of the things about the GS that I like, it is a standalone platform! Not shared with any other car (although the engines are shared in some shape or form)

Isn't the GS engine somewhat related to the Supra?

I disagree completely, I do think that the toyota avalon is designed on the gs platform. The interior is very similar, and the seats are identical. I wish it wasn't true, but I have 2 be realistic here it is very similar to the GS. Atleast the drive train is different.....

My buddy used to have a 99 TL, and I used to tell him the reason he could not fit 20s was because the car was a Honda Accord underneath.

He would get all huffy and tell me my car was just a Avalon underneath!!

FWD/V6 Avalon = RWD/I6 GS? I dont think so!!

The current Avalon is built in the US and GS is from Japan. I had a 01 Avalon and its interior is larger than my GS and 93 LS. You can also order bench seat configuration to seat six people. Great highway cruiser but not as exciting as GS4.

You are kidding right? It is impossible for the same platform to be front wheel drive in one car and rear wheel drive in another. That's known as two different platforms.

The Toyota Aristo is the equivalent of the GS - but it isn't sold here because it is the exact same thing.

WOW Doug999 U R A GENIUS. I know that much, i'm simply saying that the car is very similar to the GS and is compared to it. Now if some of u guys on here want 2 stay in denial so be it, but if u want an honest answer ask someone who doesn't own a GS and i'm sure that they will tell u that the 2 cars are very similar.

Will- its nothing to do with denial man, we accept the truth when its correct! But the GS and Avalon have nothing in common structure wise. keep in mind that just because 2 cars have similar upholstery or other trim, that is only the facade.

The true definition lies below the surface, its the things you CANNOT see that determine if models are the same!

ie the new FM platform at Nissan, would you ever think that a Murano, Altima, and Maxima, all share a platform?
