GS Curse hits again
Rear bumper damaged, shock pushed in rear quarter pushed aganst rear door. dent on side. (from previous rear incident)
Today I was coming to a stop from around 60km/h, and my throttle sticks. I am slamming on the brakes and ABS is pushing me back the damn car is revving at 5000-6000 redlining, while I am meters away from the stop sign, and take note that this was rush hour and I was just meters away from oncoming traffic going 80km/h. Finally layed on the parking brake, into neutral, and kicked the stupid car. I park in a parking lot call lexus. I put car back into drive starts revving itself again, lay on the brakes again.
Now I have an old ES300 as a loaner.
**I know this isn't as bad as others are, but it could have been devestating, if I didn't react fast enough*

Getting out of Lease
What are the terms to get out of a lease?
-could the dealership try to release the vehicle while I lease a new one?
-or would I have to pay the difference of the lease.
I want out on my GS. (sadly) but I have had enough.

You are abandoning ship, Captain?
As long as you got the money or should I say don't mind wasting money you can break your lease. Talk with a dealer. He will be glad to tell you everything. You can also put the car in ad and just have someone take over the lease payments. I see that a lot around my area.

I am friends with the sales rep at my dealer up here, I have had a few problems with the car and most recently the throttle. The throttle issue has driven me crazy and I don't want to risk problems with the car because next time it could be more serious. Also being in Canada, the winters do get pretty bad and this car isn't the best for that.
I don't want to pay the difference of the lease, but I am on a 3-4 year lease with about 1 1/2 years through it.

If it happens to me I'll be thinking the same. This is scaaaarrrrry!!! I did an extensive search before buying my 99GS4 last July. I checked recalls, owner satisfaction, everything and compared to BMW, MERC, etc. and the GS came out on top. Not to mention the 240k miles I have on my T100, I'm sold on the Toyota quality factor.
There still is the lemon factor or fault due to previous owner. Any thoughts on this?
Bottom line: Screw any warrantee. Something as catastrophic as you experience should move Lexus to fix it for FREE.

Good luck getting out of the lease. I just checked into it and it was not feasible - well if I had $10K laying around it was. I do think the only way to do it is to lease another Lexus - depending on where you are in the lease, they may help you out. I did just see a LS430 last night with sports package and it was SWEET.
I swear GS's starting in 2002 have tons more problems than earlier ones.

You gotta repair the damage first before even talking about the lease.
I would think getting out of the lease would cost you $$....there must be a reason why so many ppl advertise "take over lease payments" when selling their car.
Good luck.

It doesn't matter how it happened though, it's unfortunately, and I hope you work it all out soon.

SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THIS
Hello,
I believe that I would have to agree with Bitkahuna on this one. I wanted to ask if this was a newer GS..(01-03 vice the older 98-00). The older models with the actual throttle cable has not been affected by this as far as I know.
I hope they find your problem if there IS one, because if there is a problem with the shift-by-wire setup, that is a serious safety issue. The system is designed to fail in the closed position, meaning that the control would not activate if it malfunctioned.
I hope this doesn't turn into the old "unintended acceleration" debacle that plagued Audi for years. They ruled that one "driver error" as well... It will be hard to prove. That would force Lexus to recall all those vehicles.
The fact that many of the owners of the newer vehicles complain about a "hesitation".. says to me that the motor is failing to OPEN properly when the pedal is depressed, not stick open. The newer GS 300's seem especially prone to poor throttle response, which triggers transmission shifting problems at low speed. BUT, stranger things have been known to happen. It would be nice to get a definitive cause, though.
I WONDER if you have a loose carpet or extra rubber floor mat (like I do)? I have a lot of dirt under my feet because I work in a diesel engine shop. I always put this big mat in my cars to protect the stock floormats. A loose/sticking carpet has caused me grief in the past on more than one occasion..(especially after I quickly accelerated full throttle, and expected the pedal to come quickly back.). I hope there is a logical explanation to all of this. As you all know, I don't accept this GS CURSE stuff.
I am sure that we would hate to lose you as a GS owner, but completely understand if you sold it. Gotta do what you gotta do! I am happy with mine, but I will keep this incident in mind while driving.
Please keep us posted when you find out something.

I am definalty ruling that possibilty out, but that was a really good observation.
And as pvmike stated, I was in the parking lot, after calming down. Putting my foot on the brake and setting it back into drive. There is no margin for error in doing so here. Normal Nike running shoe, on brake, shoe isn't that big.
I brought the car in 2 days ago ( now 12:30am friday) and haven't heard back from them yet, so I'm guessing there is something wrong...
I checked to see if there was any mats up against it, nope.
btw. It's a 2002 Lexus GS300.
