Default Alternator and Subs/Amp

Hi Guys, I just bought a 2013 GS350 with Luxury Package AWD. I am about to put some aftermarket Kicker solobaric subs in it and wanted to get the Kicker 1500 watt ZX amp. I was looking into the stock alternator and according to what I see online, its only 80amps. Is this accurate and what have you guys done for subs and amps, did you have any issues with your alternators? What do you guys recommend for a power limit on amps in order to continue to use the stock alternator with no major issues?

About 1000 watts on the average modern car shouldn't be too much on the stock electrical system. My amp is 1,000 watts and the electrical keeps up fine. But since you'll be running 1500 watts, you should do the "Big Three Upgrade". Just google it. And you might have to have your gain on the conservative side.

Just have to remember amps x volts = watts
80 amp alternator x 14.4 volts (usually what alternators run at) = 1152 watts

If you're planning on playing nothing but dub step at full volume then you will have problems. For post people, however, a "normal" listening level will not draw very much current.

I have no idea. It's a MTX 1000XD. Had it for 6 years and it's still running strong.

thanks for the feedback guys.. I've give up on the idea of doing the Kicker 1500 watt RMS amp.. I am now considering doing the Kicker CX600.1 (which actually puts out around almost 700 RMS actual watts) or the older Kicker ZX750.1 (which some actually put out over 900 watts RMS actually).. I just dont want to run into electrical issues.. I dont want to upgrade the alternator or add more batteries and at the same time I dont want to deal with lights dimming heavily when I am playing the music loud. Anyone else have any examples of their own systems working fine? Please share the specs of your systems if you don't mind.

My lights don't dim but when I get a chance today, I'll get a pic of my voltage at a high volume.

The two are radio off and volume 45. I couldn't get it below 13.32 volts for split second. That's pretty good for a 1000 watts IMO. If it got below 13 then you might run into problems.

Thanks for showing me this! This is good to know. What amp do you have, its 1000 watts RMS right? What subs are you running?
