Why is the GS so unpopular?

The issue is the DRLs, oncoming with the DRLs on it makes it hard to tell if its an ES or GS because the DRLs are identical. With the refreshes it will be easier.

I admit I miss my bmws, when you see the halo, you know what it is. Know cars or not, hate them or not.
People 1) don't know what I drive 2) ask if it's an ES 3) my lady goes " look a G..never mind, it's an ES" ( She drives an F sport her self!)
But none of these things matter to me. Hated the attention I got with the Bmw, I just miss looking in my rear view and seeing halos and distinguishing them as such.
I had a 2014 Camaro and those halos are also indistinguishable.
Possibly the ONLY thing that irritates me about the GS is the DRL "bulby" " dotty" look - not a smooth flowing LED like other cars have.

The refresh may look something like this Photoshop:
Do you like the refresh, or do you like the current 2015 model?

Don't know why but that tail light looks better on that car than the GS F. I actually like it.

I'll still probably get the refreshed GS after my lease because I still love the way it handles, refinement of the interior, and excellent service department.

Totally agree! I see tons of IS and ES which I'm sure people on the road are getting tired of looking at. I still have people turn their heads when they see my GS, and it feels like we're in a small owners club.
I also agree with the statement that the ES is probably the biggest reason for the low GS sales. I have friends and family (not really enthusiasts) who ask me why I got the GS when the ES is smoother, bigger, "just as nice", and much cheaper. Most don't know the difference of FWD and RWD, or that the GS has more power and handles way better. My answer is always that it is a million times sportier (my F-sport), more powerful, handles corners better, more refined (especially interior), and is the perfect size for me (not as big as the ES, but not as small as IS).

I could be mistaken, but isn't the GS bigger than the ES. Unless you meant LS. Because when I took my car in to the dealership for an oil change and detailing, they gave me an ES and it is smaller than the GS and I hated it. Last time I checked it went CT, ES, GS and then LS. Size wise, prIce wise AND bottom to top of the line.
IS: Length =183.7, Wheelbase =110.2, Width =71.3, Legroom (front/rear) =44.8/32.2, MSRP= 36550
ES: Length =192.7, Wheelbase =111.0, Width =71.1, Legroom (front/rear) =41.9/40.0, MSRP=37700
GS: Length =190.7, Wheelbase =112.2, Width =72.4, Legroom (front/rear) =42.3/36.8, MSRP=48600
LS: Length = 200.0, Wheelbase =116.9, Width =73.8, Legroom (front/rear) =43.7/35.8, MSRP=72520

Price wise, you are correct, but it actually goes IS, ES, GS, LS if you're talking about the sedan range (unless you look at the IS350 which slots above the ES). Most likely you had the IS as a loaner because that is the small, cramped sedan in the line.

The GS is shorter than the ES and it shows in rear legroom. The ES even has more rear legroom than the LS (short)!

It's very close, but we can take the win

While it is a few years now since I went to school :if my memory serves me then based on your measurements the GS is indeed larger than the ES, where area = Length x Width, GS = 190.7 x 72.4 = 13,806.68, while ES = 192.7 x 71.1 = 13,700.97 !!
It's very close, but we can take the win

We actually own both GS and ES in my household, and going by feel, ES feels bigger inside (spacious) and handles like a bigger car. In the ES, I can set the drivers seat to a comfortable driving position for my 6' frame and fit about 2.5-3 fists (scientific measurement unit )between my knee and the front seat cutouts. Definitely not so in my GS, can get about a fist between my knee and front seat cutouts. I still think the GS is superior, but the ES might be better for those long road trips.

I don't know why other people are not choosing the GS, but for me the interior is just too small to use as a sedan to transport 4 adults. I bought the ES instead of the GS for the rear leg room and smoother ride. The current A6, E class, and 5 series feel like they have more interior room than the GS and the Genesis is much larger inside. The new C class doesn;t feel that much smaller than a GS is matches it in interior luxury.

Why has the Corvette been so unpopular for over six decades?
