Nope, if your car is stock height or just have springs you can use the middle jack point to raise both sides at the same time. It is close by the subframe next to the oil pan (if i remember it should have an X or something) for the front and the rear you use the pumpkin (diff). Scissor jacks are not safe. You use it only for emergency, but if you need to use it make sure you have a jack stand.

I used the scissor jack and put a jack stand next to it so I'm pretty safe. I wouldn't trust the scissor jack by itself though.
