Per my PM, Steve..........Genesis 5.0, unless traction is an issue, where, in the U.S., you have to go with the 3.8 to get AWD.

That's how I felt when getting back in the GS after test driving an LS. The GS is not that far behind in quality and I think my GS FSPORT handles better than the LS 460 FSPORT I test drove, it floats a little too much even in S+ mode. Yes the interior is nice but again, so is the GS.

I got your PM! I will reply.

I like the Genesis a whole lot, I just don't think I can bring myself to trade my Lexus in on a Hyundai. I know its petty, but it is what it is.

Got the lease rates for May on the LS, 15k miles .0011 MF which is better, 56% residual for 12k miles, $2k lease cash. $79200 MSRP cap cost $70k, taxes and tags out of pocket I'm at $837.64 36 month, $800.40 48 months. Better than I thought.

$125 more than the GS is in the range where I'd make that upgrade...$300 not so much.

Thanks for all the detailed reviews, Steve. to you for being able to manage the time to test drive and share here.
Those are some attractive numbers for LS. Were you hoping to get 125 over your current payment or what's going on on the GS now? BTW, what is your up side down at this point?

Its nice having gaps in appointments out and about during the day. Gives you time to do stuff like this...

I'd like to stay within $100-150 of what I'm paying now, a new GS would be cheaper. Assuming the 2016s are as cheap to lease as the 2015s which my guess is won't be the case initially.

My buyout is about $34k, I have 6 payments left of $705 each, so the payoff is in the $38,500 range. KBB excellent is $32,684, so I'm pretty upside down still. The sales tax savings of trading the GS in vs turning it in is $1,920, even with that though I'm $4k in the hole. So, long and short of it absent some kind of LFS pull ahead turn in deal I'm not in a position to do anything until lease maturity probably.

I've pretty much decided that I'm going to either buy out my GS, lease a new GS or upgrade to an LS. Its the only thing I can really hang my hat on "wanting" vs the GS. I'm going to go drive the Jag XJ too, and perhaps a Hyundai Equus. Its a question of finding the right deal and the best deal.

The residual is too high on these cars and trade in value is trash. Mine is only valued at $38K for an 8 month old with 9K miles. Just return it and walk away and start a new lease.

Yeah I don't have an issue with the residual being high, high residuals mean low payments, and just return it. Have to wait until the end of the lease though.

If you are still considering BMW - I highly recommend going to the BMW ULTIMATE DRIVING EXPERIENCE. https://ude.bmwusa.com/

I went a few weeks ago to the one in NJ.
You get $1,000 certificate after you attend.
Even if the event is full online, just register and attend - they will let you in.
Besides autocross, they have ALL of the BMW models for u to drive on your own on a route you follow through the Navi.

Miami, FL - May 9-17
Washington, D.C. - June 6-14
Seattle, WA - July 25 - August 2
Los Angeles, CA - August 15-23
Phoenix, AZ - September 12-20
Dallas, TX - October 3-11
Chicago, IL - October 24 - November 1
Flushing, NY - November 14-22

Drove the X5 Msport with V8 - as its one of the cars im considering after my 5 lease - WOW I was blown away.
Handles like a sports sedan, great sound and interior design/quality were amazing.
If you drive one, you will be impressed for what it can do for an SUV.
Looked like this one.....

While you have a high residual, remember that you dont have to pay that amount when the lease is up to buy it . We all know that it is higher than you would pay for the car on the lot. They dont want the car back so I would make them an offer. I helped my neighbor buy our his BMW that way 2 years ago and we got it for about $4000 less than his residual would have been had he just bought it out.

This is not the case on a Lexus. LFS WILL NOT negotiate on a lease buyout, EVER. Been through it many times as have others on the forum, they will not budge. Other leasing companies will, but not LFS.

People have gone so far as to let their LFS leases go to auction and go and buy them back for less at auction.

This is a great thread, I'm in the same boat as the OP - maybe with a smaller budget.

I'm at the point where I'm over 0-to-60s (I have my 2.8s to 60 Yamaha for that ), race pedals, aluminium trim, manuals, taking a turn on two wheels, etc. I started enjoying a smooth auto, wood trims, a quiet and refined ride. Must be age and my love for music.
I'm looking to spend up to $600 / mo. I don't keep cars out of warranty so I'm looking for a new lease or a 2 / 3 yr old CPOed car. An example of how I calculate my monthly budget is this: for $600 I could get a GS with $0 down for 36 mo, or a 2013 750i and sell it after 36 mo. The depreciation is the same, around $600 / mo and that's what's important to me.
My 328i lease is up in December and I started the search. I'm so done with the 3 Series, so not for me. My list looks like this:

- 2016 GS 350. I really like the 2015, but the lease for the LCI might not be so good. We'll see.
- 2016 C300. Huge step forward in quality. Haven't driven it yet, but I will. Lease rates not so good, but still doable.
- 2016 Genesis 3.6. I drove it, I liked it. I would like to spend a bit more time with it though. I don't mind the badge as long as the car is good, I could buy Chinese for all I care. Lease comes out at $500 with $0 down.
- 2013 A7. Huge depreciation, so a good buy used. Got to drive it.
- 2013 750/40i. I absolutely love my 7 but it's getting old, so why not try a newer one?

I was also thinking of a Kia K900 or, gasp!, a Buick LaCrosse. Most of my cars were Bimmers, but I don't have any brand allegiance. I'm the proverbial wh0r3, jumping beds with no remorse I'll keep an eye on this thread to see what the OP is going to end up buying/leasing.

If you're willing to buy used, I would consider leasing a 2015 GS now.

I'm not sure I understand what you're suggesting. That I should lease a used 2015 GS?

the gs is a good car, but i have to be honest and say the LS is a lot better, i don't feel the gs is 90% of the LS unless i care more about the driving dynamics
