Default Plastidip....I'm just sayin....

I had several cans of plastidip in my garage from a project I never did on my last car so I decided to try it out on the GS. When I bought this car, I decided I was going to black out ALL of the chrome with wrap but I figured, why not use the plastidip I have and give it a go. I think it works just fine over wrapping...I haven't gone through a car wash with it though. The great thing about plastidip is that it can be removed so easily. I actually painted a lot more of the front than pictured here but I screwed it up when peeling off the tape so I'll have to try again.

I just wanted to throw it out there that plastidip is an alternative to wrapping in some ways. And, YES...I know that the lower corners need work, they are not even, but...I'm not done!

Peace,

Jason

Only issue with plastidip is that it is not gloss black like rest of trim so if you want to match blacks it has to be wrap. I know. I wrapped.

I will always put plasti dip higher than wrap. I've seen "legit" wrap jobs in person that are gloss in finish, metallic, or chrome, and they look terrible. Wraps really are unforgiving when it comes to scratches. There's new dip super gloss top coats out there and DYC just released theirs to the public. It's amazing. But keep on testing out what you want. it doesn't look that bad as is. One can only keep improving

Here is my car a few months back.

Good post NXXT. Plasti dip is really frowned upon but i love the stuff.
-You can experiment
-its cheap
-you can peel it off

Dipped all the chrome on the car for less than 10 bucks...

Man that looks great! I'm more of a flashy guy when it comes to my car so I keep my chrome but yeah it's a great solution to "removing" it.

I follow the dip community closely and I will being doing the super gloss here soon after my new widebody is done since I am sponsored by a local shop that is preferred by DYC. Get to test it out for them and I get to envision my new color. Afterwards going in for paint

thanks man

Almost bought a semi-proffessional paint machine and custom colors to add to plastidip mix. This way I can change the color of the car whenever I felt like it.

Please post pics of your adventures in painting.

That looks fantastic! Looks like paint to me though, not dip. This is almost exactly how I originally dipped it but when removing the tape I lost all the dip on the bottom portion. This was my first attempt, there will be more. I'm installing my front lip today, after it's on I'll reassess what other parts I want to dip but most likely, it'll look just like the picture you posted.

Cheers!
