Default Just traded my GS for a ES 300h

I just got home from the dealer and I traded my lease for the GS for a certified 2013 ES 300 Hybrid w/ Nebula Gray fully loaded with everything. My GS did not have any options besides a back up cam, no navigation. The reason i got the GS was to have a vehicle with good mpg for my daily commute because i drive a lot. About 2000 miles a month. However, i was averaging about 17 mpg. So i decided to buy the ES for just $110 more a month than what i was paying for the GS. And thats inucluding my negative equity.

With my calculations i will save roughly $160 a month on gas with 40 mpg, and the upside is it is a buy. I will pay off this vehicle in a few years and keep it for a long long time as my famiy trip / commute car. I own a few sports cars so the GS was like a 3rd sports car for me, it was excess kind of.

Everyone in these forums are great and i made a few friends. I hope no one will mind if i contribute on some threads here and there.

Wow, I've never even seen a GS Without navigation...

Not a fan of the ESh (drove one, I'm just not a hybrid guy) but best of luck with it!

Wow! No NAV in a GS 350!!! That car is truly rare! And, I suspect a buyer for that car will be rare also. The dealer will probably have to deduct $5,000+ because the car doesn't have it. I really cannot imagine anyone wanting a Lexus GS 350 would be interested in that car...

PS - Good luck with the ESh...

A buddy of mine just purchased an 2015 ES Hybrid, he keeps texting me photos of the MPG's he's been getting from his commutes. 40+ mpg with premium gas prices going back up again can be enticing.

Thanks guys, I made the dealer sign a contract to change the wheels because i hate chrome. So on Monday, ill take it in to be swapped for alloy wheels. The vehicle only has 13k miles, and it came with 100,000 mile warranty. I drove it about 50 miles today, mostly all highway and it shows 47.5 mpg. Maybe it did more than the advertised cl because i drove on EV mode in the city, which is pure electric power. Only when you pass 25 mph, the engine starts. Its pretty cool, especially in stop and go traffic.

Wow, that was quick. Less than 5 months with the GS350 and you're moving on to the ES Hybrid?

Quite interesting because I remember you talking about fuel savings and hybrid vehicles not being worth the premium (i.e. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ml#post8896044).

Anyway, you mention that you have other sports cars and you were looking more of a daily drive/long commute vehicle. I would have choose that ES300h from the start if that was my only criteria.

For me, I only have one vehicle - so the GS450h is the perfect combination of sporty handling/performance and pretty decent gas mileage.

Welcome to the hybrid world. I'm sure you'll grow to appreciate how refined Lexus hybrids really are.

All the best,

That was a comparison with the GS and GS Hybrid, obviously the ES is much less, so it makes sense. The GS H is near 70K, to where it overlaps your fuel savings compared to a petrol GS engine.

It's always surprising to see low fuel consumption in a big car like the ES. It's no hot rod but the traction motor's torque in Sport mode is fun on dreary winter days

It's too bad Lexus doesn't sell the GS300h in the US. That would be a good combo of the GS handling and build quality with the ES hybrid's excellent fuel economy. AFAIK it's only sold in Japan and some parts of Europe. The GS450h is awesome but it's priced close to a cheaper Tesla.

Default for 24k similiar mpg

pirelli good luck with the es, had a couple loaners when my ls430 was in for service and the car has a nice balance of ride, comfort and mpg, i compared and contrasted the cvt and for me the stop and go with the hybrid still is not to my taste but the city mpg are outstanding. i recently traded my ls got into a honda and decided to get into a 4 cyl camry 2015 xle.
out the door with nav and leather for 23,500
4cyl getting combine 29.8
and highway mileage is 39mpg at 68 mph with cruise
its basically a baby s350 with a 4 cylinder
not many people know about it so wanted everyone to know you can get a baby es with the changes they made to noise and ride, even the nav w jbl is the same nav interface lexus uses.
its not a lexus the front seat is not as comfy as es 350 but for 23,500 vs 40 k its a no brainer.
i was going to buy an es350 but didnt want the 21 mpg combined.
safe driving and luck with the new ride

I could understand wanting better mpg. The GS doesn't do too well on gas really. And I'm sure having a few new features in your ES is a plus too. At least it's another Lexus...
