Lexus is not the only car manufactuer that does this. BMWs have been known to also have this detent at the bottom of the gas pedal travel as well. And BMWs are marketed to men, so i am not too sure about the accuracy of your comment.

My VW CC also had the pedal detent. I think it's a common thing. Amazes me that people don't know about it. Maybe they don't ever floor it? Dunno...

The pedal detent must be new for Lexus (2014+) all of the Toyotas I've had before never had this.

I'm doing some checking on the 78110K assembly. It looks like many Toyota/Lexus vehicles have them.

I just did a quick search on CL and saw mention of the kick down switch from as early as a 94 SC. Definitely in the 2IS and early LS. I'm assuming this means the 2013 GS also has it.

Only Lexus cars right? No Toyota cars? Cause most of them don't have a floor mounted gas pedal. I know my 5 Camrys did not have it.

I looked at the diagram and the accelerator switch itself is the same part and mounted the same way and place. The floor mounting or floating mounting of the pedal is just cosmetics.

Anyone knows if the ES has this too? I think that's the closest to its Toyota Camry/Avalon counterparts.

They must have switched to kickdown switches when they went to electronically controlled transmissions - the older cars had kickdown cables attached too throttlebody running to the transmission. If you wanted the tranny to downshift sooner you tightened this up.

This is a feature on the CT that I wished were on our cars. When you set the sunroof to vent, the sliding cover is automatically pulled open an inch.

Nah, CVT. One thing I'm glad our car does NOT have. HAHA. That's what bothered me the most about the CT. But the instant torque was pretty nice.

Oh I hate CVT too. If it wasn't for the 40+ MPG I wouldn't get it.
