Default DIY: 2013 GS Airbag Removal from Steering Wheel w/PICS

Thank you CL for all the years of helping me with my past and present lexus DIY.
After countless hours of searching for a way to access my broken cruise control switch, i noticed no one had a DIY to remove the airbag from the steering wheel so i decided to contribute to the forum with the help of SID from ct200h forum. This DIY can help access you cruise control, the steer wheel menus, steering wheel shaft and etc.

It seems like certain Lexus's have different type of steering wheels, i know 100% this works for 2013 GS and 2011 CT

TOOLS NEEDED:
Small Flat Head Screwdriver

Time Needed:
10Minutes

Diffculty (Scale 1-10)
2

STEP 1:
Disconnect the positive and negative terminals from the battery and give it at least 30 minutes before you start the steering wheel removal.

Step 2:
Remove the plastic covers from the right and left side of the steering wheel. Use your small flathead screw driver to pop them out.

Step 3:
starting with your LEFT SIDE of the steering wheel, you will see 2 wire
First: Push up on the top wire (#1 in picture)
Second: After First step than Push down on the bottom wire (#2 in picture)

Step 4:
Go to the RIGHT SIDE of the steering wheel and you will see just 1 wire on top. Push up on the wire like step 3 (its a little difficult to locate but its there)

Step 5:
At this point the airbag should have popped up from its seated position in the steering wheel (If it has not, repeat previous steps and push harder). Pull gently towards you.
Remember to remove the two plugs in the back of the airbag

If you have any questions please feel free to ask! hope this helps!

Thanks you for the instruction. It also works the same way on 2013 ES350.

Thank you for this & happy holidays to everyone.
For the my 08, I plan on taking this a quarter step further & running the sport splice directly to the mode button. I'd also like to run the VSC button to the "talking head" voice button. Heh heh heh...

I humbly ask - could someone please post the schematic of the VSC button to supplement the ones in this thread?
