Now you got me curious, what rpm does the rev limiter kick in at?

Throw it into manual mode with the shift *** (not the paddle shifters) and you can bounce that needle all day if you want. It is not good for the engine or transmission however, so don't do it too much if you plan on keeping the car.

I think the GS 350 engine has a redline of 6,600 RPM with the rev limiter set at the 6,600 RPM redline for fuel cutoff. The GS 350 transmission upshifts at 6,400 RPM - or 200 RPM below redline.

Automatic shifting is conducted in the following cases, even when in M mode:
– A “–” shift when vehicle speed decreases.
– When the temperature of automatic transmission fluid and engine coolant drops, shifting is conducted based on a
low oil temperature shifting pattern.
– When the automatic transmission fluid temperature is high, automatic shifting is performed.
When the engine speed reaches the redline, gear shifting is conducted automatically.

I do not know what the owners manual tells you but I know what my engine does, try it yourself. I drive a lot on manual mode, put the shift **** in manual on 1st gear and gas it from a stand still, it will not upshift to 2nd gear. Maybe after you bounce the red line a few times it will shift but you can definitely bounce the needle at least once. Its happened to me a lot because at times I forget im in manual but It will downshift automatically manual mode but not up shift.

I was driving in M mode and it still upshifts at redline. But I was maxing out on 2nd gear though then it shifts to 3rd at redline. Maybe it'll bounce at 1st gear only?

Maby they revised how our transmission behaves in the 2014+ GSs? I just tried this in my way to work. From a standing stop i put the shift lever over to the left to M mode and using only the paddle shifter it will not automatically shift unless i tell it to, no matter what gear i am in. I tied the same thing again with M mode but use the shift levers + an - to shift and i get the same result. The only time my transmission upshifts automatically for me is when I use the paddle shifters in D mode. With M mode i can hit the rev limiter all day in any gear. Keep in mine i always have sport+ enabled during all these tests.

If the GS is like the 3IS, you have about half the owners (of 2014 models) stating that their cars will automatically shift at the limiter and the other half stating that theirs won't. (Mine shifts automatically)

Many believe there must have been a software change somewhere along the production line.

It's probably worth stating whether you have the 6 speed or 8 speed.
