Default reconsidering....

after giving up on the 4g gs because of what I thought at the time was bland styling and old tech I happened to go thru my 2013 brochure that I kept and discovered that night vision assist is an option. I am a tech freak so this is bringing me back towards a 4g gs f-sport IF that god awful mouse is gone as in the rc and the IS. also want the gen 8 navigation if thats in the current model as well. watched a head2head from motor trend in which the host said the gs beat the E, 5, and A6 in a shootout which I found interesting as I am lusting after the A6 but leery of the reliability. so does the gs now have the gen 8 nav and the new touchpad interface while retaining the night vision assist availability? if so I am going to buy one.

thanks in advance.

Night vision was discontinued on 2014+ and they still have the mouse. Go get your Audi A6.

If what you care most about is tech, any Lexus will disappoint you. The GS is the best car in its class overall, but techwise its not.

damn. thanks. I like an all around car but I like what Lexus offers in its builds. as a former LS430 owner and IS 350 owner I know they offer a really good balance but the tech is definitely lacking. cant have everything I suppose.

The higher the tech = the greater chance for breakdowns & failures, IMHO. The Lexus provides a good balance while maintaining impeccable reliability.

The real question is, how much is money and time worth to you? Money and time will be lost on a car that's less reliable.

The techs in these cars will be really expensive to repair when they're starting to go.

The nav system/ multimedia screen is almost $10,000 alone!

One reason why I bought a discounted Lexus Platinum extended warranty.

Got the nightvision......it is the one option on the 4gs that sucks imho. you will not have the time when driving to be staring at the screen. Nothing extra is displayed on it, like for example Mercedes does. It is just an infrared camera that is displayed on your screen.

For the rest I am extremely happy with the GS, the mouse I like and got used to. So I don't see that as an issue.

The mouse was fairly an eyesore at first but I got use to it and actually like using it. And everyone that gets into my car seems to be fascinated by it vs turned off.

Exactly. The only time when it can be used is when you have a passenger and he/she is able to watch it. Like hube is saying, it's just stupid infrared camera. It hasn't any notification to inform you like in Mercedes or BMW.

For me is mouse better then trackpad in IS / NX...
