Maybe leaving for the Dark Side
Hi everyone. I guess during the holidays I got the itch to trade for a new car. I was going to wait for the 2016 models, but after seeing the GS F I decided I may not wait for Lexus to come up with something I want to trade for. I have loved my '13 GS F Sport and have kept it for almost 3 years, which is pretty much a record for me. It is a GREAT car!
I owned a couple of Audi S5 Cabs prior to the Lexus and I still miss those looks and the feeling of a personal coupe. I'm in the process of negotiating on a '15 S5 Coupe. If it works out I will be trading my GS. I never thought I'd say these words because I have been so totally impressed with the GS. I just want something smaller, and despite the fact that the technology in the Audi is dated compared to the Lexus it is still a beautiful car and great to drive.
This is by far the best forum in Autodom, and if I leave it I will miss all the input and comments. For a car like the S5, the forums are pretty dead because it is so niche and has been out for so long. Anyway, I've had experience with two of them so I guess I will go it on my own.
I look at the S5 as a timeless beauty like the SC300/400, and it keeps calling my name. Keep your fingers crossed for me that the deal works out. If so, there will be a pristine '13 GS F Sport with 20,500 miles on the market.
I will miss almost as much as the car, the comaraderie in this forum.

Don't have to leave the forum if you wind up trading the car

We will miss you! I love my GS and I have a 2012 Audi A8L and 2014 Audi A6 TDI in the family garage. I am leaning towards the refreshed 2016 Audi A7TDI for myself but I am torn right now. I love my GS and like you we want to try new things or pick something we are comfortable with. Either way as long as you are happy that all that matters!

I love you guys! I'll stay in the forum because I will always be interested in what is happening with Lexus. They are on such a roll right now.
I bought my GS but will probably go with a 2-year lease on the S5 so I will be open to all the options. Two years go by very quickly!
I know I will miss my GS but I've already had experience with the S5 so it's all good.
Just so you know why I think this forum is so great, I've already received two responses to my post. Not one in the Audi forum. This forum is icing on the cake to owning a Lexus.

The S5 was beautiful when it came out in '08-09 (?). More impressively, it still looks like a million bucks. It's real classy with subtle fender flaring.
I don't follow Audi all that closely, but whenever they update the A/S5 interior to the current corporate design, it'll be even better.
RS5?! Give it a go.

Yes, here are my thoughts. I would be inclined to go with an RC350 F Sport. I looked at one on the dealer's lot and I just thought it looked a little too "boy racer" for me. Just my opinion, but I thought the grille was pretty questionable in person (I'm being nice.) I'm all for the spindle grille, but if that is what they are planning for the GS refresh I'll pass.
Overall, I think the S5 is a car for "grown ups".

I prefer the grille on the RC-F to the one on the RC350 F Sport. I think its the higher hoodline. The RC350 doesn't do much for me, but I do really like the RC-F.
The S5 is a beautiful car no doubt, one of my favorites.
The only car out of that group I'd consider comparing to an S5 is the E550 coupe. The other cars are (IMHO) younger, brasher, less sophisticated.

Keep us posted. I love the S5 and seriously considered one. But the A6 was the same price with a lot more features and updated tech, and the A7 I bought was a little more money but had much more features as well and bridged the gap of being sporty. My next car could well be the next generation S5 though.
