i just went on bmwusa to price the m3 (sedan)

with most of the options selected, the car is right under 80k. i did not select the 8k ceramic brakes coz' it's not on the gsf too.

in reality, i see a lot the m3/m4 in the market are priced around 76-78k.

so if the gsf is really priced (optioned) around 85k like i think, it can be relatively close considering that the car provides more rear cabin room. that's why i think from that sense, maybe it gives some perspective on the car and what topgear said is really true, the car can give the m3 a very good run for the money (and somewhat in line with what yaguchi said?)

i just feel it's funny (not a good way) that lexus decided to use a mid-size to fight the m3, but given that the 3is was not designed right (imho) that it doesn't even fit a v8, it's possible that the gs is the easiest and simplest next best option

"With 467-horsepower, a projected 0-to-60 time of a mere 4.4 seconds and a race-ready cockpit equipped with bolstered high-back sport seating, this is the most powerful, menacing and exhilarating GS we've ever created. Introducing the next expression of Lexus F performance: the first-ever GS F."

So it does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds, while the M5 does it in 4.3 seconds not bad after all. Waiting for the price that will be the most important thing if it's the same price as the M5 then it's not that good if it's cheaper then it's actually pretty good.

I suspect the GSF will compete with the M3 rather than the M5 in pricing.

Do some more homework on the M5 times. Easily in the 3s.

No lie this is what the GS F-Sport should have looked like from the beginning, but maybe they planned this out from the time the 1st 4th gen GS came out.

There is a difference between official listed times and other real world times achieved by the mags/media .. etc. though.
Lexus cars have achieved faster times from other sources than those officially listed on their own website also ......

The Germans are known for conservative times. Look at a variety of road tests on the M5 and on the RCF to get a feel for the differences. BTW, 0-60 is not as important to me as cars get faster. It's all about hooking up from a stop. Trap speed in the 1/4 mile that gives the best indicator or real world street performance because very few people do a full on launch on the street. It's more about roll on performance that people feel.

RC F is too new so there isn't enough tests for possible better times recorded by other sources. But I agree the Germans are generally more conservative when listing their times as well as hp ...
