What are the approx. dimensions of the unit?
If I zip tie it, I don't want it sticking out like a sore thumb.

Why would you want to put the unit under the hood? It would expose it to far more heat than it is designed to tolerate.

Put the "permanent" clips on your battery, bring the cord to the grill area and whenever you want to connect it, just plug it in and leave the tender in the garage, or if it doesn't reach, under the car, perhaps on the tire or somewhere out of the weather. I found that the cord would reach from my garage to the connector, which would stay connected when I closed the hood.

Take a look at the accessories that come with it. You will see that it is quite intuitive.

Thanks everyone for their help and comments . Sewell finally emailed me back and said the one they sell with the lexus logo doesn't work on our cars. I'll start looking at del trans ones anything that will work on a 12v right?

Someone misunderstood someone.
The Lexus unit is the same unit as the Deltran and will work on any 12V battery.
However,the Deltan can be bought at a cheaper price.

I use a CTEK model with the quick connect on the battery. I don't keep it plugged in all the time since I don't keep the car garaged but I plug it in once in a while to top things up. Our car gets driven pretty sparingly too since we can just walk or take the subway to most places we need to go.

I used to use a battery tender jr when I still owned a motorcycle.

Anything 12volt will work with the battery tender. I have used it on a boat, car, motorcycle, scooter and even my niece's Barbie Jeep. LOL

The only reason to buy and use the Lexus branded unit, given that it costs more than the regular one is that it has the Lexus name and looks like it came with our cars. While that is not an unreasonable thing to do, I think it depends on how much that costs. There is no doubt that it will work with our cars, though. As was said, something went wrong with the translation into Texan.
