I don't have this feature, I wanted the RWD. But there's a huge lack of any details of info in this thread. So why is it that you hate it?

This thread is almost like when someone brings something up but then they don't want to talk about it. Weird.

I think the OP is talking about when he uses his windshield wipers and wants water to spray on windshield the headlight washers would spray too. And this might cause the car to have water spots around bumper and headlights. I have headlight washers too and personally i think this is the one feature i will use the least because, if your headlights got too dirty to shine light on the road then reallly you shoud be washing your whole car anyways.

That's not really their main purpose though. Dirty headlights with HID bulbs will cause a glare problem for other drivers way before they stop lighting up the road effectively. The main reason for the washers is to help reduce glare. Some countries require them to be equipped on cars with HID headlights for that reason.

If that is the case, then why aren't headlight washers put on all Lexus GS 350 versions instead of just the Luxury version?

Also if this is the case then why does older Volvos have headlight washers on their cars with Halogen headlights. Like the ones sold in the 1990's.

They were on my AWD F-Sport with cold weather package. (Not just Luxury model). I agree though, I hated them. Sprays wiper fluid all over my car.

Lexus won't put it on all their cars with HID anymore just to cutting cost and US DOT doesn't required washer on HID. Yup that's cheap. All the older RX for example 07 RX equip with HID have headlight washer. All European Lexus still have headlight washer with HID even base models.

When you need to use it then mean your car also dirty or cover with snow so who care for washer fluid all over your car. If you don't like it then buy the base one. All other luxury models have that feature too. You'll appreciate that feature when your headlight cover with snow.

The newer car does have curve headlight so they can't use a wiper for that purpose.

I've been driving for many years and never had the need for headlight washers.The washers spray all over.
There should be a separate switch to turn the washer function on if desired and not automatically when the head lights are on and you want to wash your windshield.

I have a service appt on the 23rd.Maybe the function can be shut off.

Had a service appt today and asked about disabling the headlight washer function.
It can't be done by pulling a fuse #32 listed in the manual because there's no single #32 fuse.There's a bridge type fuse that controls other things too.
It can be disabled by taking the front bumper cover off but I passed on that with the frigid weather in my area.

I don't know how hard it is to get washer fluid tank, but you might try just disconnecting the fluid line to the headlights. There has to be some kind of a tee at the washer tank, one line to headlights one to windshield. Or do they each have their on fluid pump? If so disconnect the power socket on the headlight pump.

I don't know but Lexus service should know of an easier way to disable than doing it by removing the bumper cover.

Disconnecting the washer fluid pump might be the ticket. Just make sure you disconnect the power and not just the fluid line because you can burn out the pump if water does not get pumped through.

Or worse case just route the fluid hose to spill it on the ground. under the engine
