When is the refresh on the GS supposed to happen?
The lease on my 2013 is up in April. I drove the RC Coupe and was underwhelmed. Tight inside and a little basic too. I also drove the LS and it's just not my type of vehicle, at least in non F Sport form. So, my only shot at staying with Lexus is the GS. The 2015 is just not that much of a change for me to really want that and dealers are giving me a hassle about ordering what I want.
I am thinking of extending my GS lease and getting the 2016 refresh but when is that supposed to occur? I am not sure how long Lexus will extend my lease. Also what do you think the refresh will be mostly cosmetic, an engine change or what?

I haven't heard anything except for the GS-F. One thing I've noticed about Lexus is that their refresh cycles are very minor. I would love to see a turbo 6 cylinder but I highly doubt it.

It should be for 2016, would be out in September/October. They will extend your lease I believe up to 6 months...so that woukd be tight but would work.
I expect a new front end with the full spindle grille, look at the latest GS-F Spy shots for an idea what that will look like. New wheels, new colors, some interior trim differences. Thats pretty much what we see in midcycle refreshes.
The segment is VERY competitive, we'll have a refreshed A6, a new 5 will be on the way and a new E will be out/on the way. I would think they would tend to do more with the GS vs less to remain competitive.

It'll get a Twin-Turbo V8 making over 1000HP to compete with Ferraris and Lambos and GTRs.
I can only dream.

The last generation did not have a refresh, it just got a different engine. Virtually nothing else changed during the run. My guess is that they will go to the new touchpad like in the RC, and that is a good move (I hate the mouse system).

The 3GS DID have a refresh for 2008. in 2008 it got a new front bumper, new grille, new wheels, new lower rear bumper, new signal mirrors, some new interior trim, new steering wheel. Differences were subtle, but these parts were all new.

No, I didn't try an LS F Sport since I am not trying to spend that much.....also the dealer didn't have any F Sports in stock. The regular LS even in sport mode got me a little nauseous with the floating. I would hope the F Sport suspension would be a little tighter.
The RC while a nice looking vehicle outside, looks a little cheap inside and felt slower than the GS. From what I could tell it handled well but since the dealer wanted $750 month for a loaded RC F Sport, well right now the RC is a no go.
I am considering either an E Class or more likely a new C400 4 matic. I like the looks and since it is lighter is a little faster. I'll get a loaded C400 and that will be a little more than a loaded GS. That loaded comes with more tech items that the GS has or you can get. Lexus will have their work cut out for them with the Germans updating their similar sized cars. The only real advantage Lexus has now is price.

I drove the new C, I'd never trade the GS for it. It's a good looking car, and lots of tech but it's a step below the GS in solidity and refinement

I agree that the new Mercedes E is very good. But that isn't surprising, it is the new car in the bunch. And Mercedes has upped their game considerably from the bad days (the new S class is flat out amazing).

The LS FSport in Sport+ mode still feels a bit too floaty. It feels more floaty than the GS FSport in Sport+ mode, the GS feels more planted to the road.

The LS is designed to haul around more than one person, hence the size and legroom all around. The suspension is tuned with that in mind. I would like to drive the F Sport though. It looks a little tougher here and there but still refined.
I'm not sure what a refresh would entail. The 2014 and 2015 got incremental changes on the head unit and a few other bits. I definitely do not want the RC or IS headlight/DRL arrangement or that gaudy grille. I think twin LED projectors from the JDM cars should be standard in 2016. I think their big move is the GS-F.

Oh yea, I forgot. I forgot because its nearly impossible to tell them apart. I bought a 2010 and I sat and looked at the "refresh" next to the earlier model and literally could not tell which was which.
We actually already had this conversation
