Default Lights and wipers sensors

It's very nice to have sensors for automatic switching on lights and wipers. The man is careless and the car is operating all automatically. Very handy. But what I am missing is thinking when designing these functions.

What I am talking about? About rain in such light conditions when the brightness is still good but the visibility is horrible. In this situation lights are in day running mode, so tail lights off, but wipers can move on the fastest option. Isn't in the whole factory anybody who can realize when are wipers running fastly is so heavy rain that is hard to see and is dangerous to drive without lights on? Why I have to turn lights on manually when the car is equipped of thousands sensors? Is it really such a big problem to set: when
are wipers running fastly but still brightness is not under x lumens, turn lights on and overrule the brightness sensor?

Hey Toyota, would you like to hire me? I'll do your cars better, not rattling and more intelligent?

All you have to do is keep it in automatic mode, you can go into settings and change the sensitivity so it comes on when it gets sort of dark. Lexus/Toyota take a little longer to come on vs BMW which when it senses dark they come on instantly, hope that helps.

I know there is a sensitivity settings but I don't like more sensitive because it switches lights on in dark shadows etc. My setting is in the middle position.

I would agree. They need to program the lights to come on if wipers are on no matter how light it is outside. In some states, if your wipers are moving you are required to have your lights on and not just your DRL's. As mentioned, rear lights are not on with DRL's but needs to be in many rainy situations so people can see you other than when you apply the brakes.

Small detail, however, big safety issue and would be a simple line of code into the system.

No clue why Toyota/Lexus doesn't have their lights come on with the wipers. They do on my Jeep, they did on my dads old 95 Cadillac.

The DRL LEDs are very bright.
I don't think headlights are needed in rain but taillights on helps in heavy rain.
Headlights in in rain is not really enforced in my area.

Headlights on when raining is required where i live. Me and my sister have been pulled over once for this very reason. I have had Lexus Personalized Settings adjust by Lexus Slservice tech for lights to come on sooner when it gets dark. Also made adjustments to have the interior dimmer for interior lighting adjusted too to compensate for exterior lights.

Yeah my concern is the taillights not the headlights. Enforced or not for safety's sake I would always turn them on.

It's more annoying now that they don't turn off automatically when in the "on position" like Lexus vehicles always used to.

Some of the things Lexus does/doesn't do are incredibly stupid...and the link (switchable) to turn on lights when the wipers are on is a great example. We could start a list... I will give them credit for making more configuration options user changeable, and not requiring a trip to the dealer - my 13 is far better than my 06 GS - BUT they have a long way to go!!

What really grinds my gears are they honda drivers that drive around thinking their lights are on at 10pm, because the dash board is illuminated and the DRL's are on...
