Default How can you improve performance on a 2013 GS?

Is there anyway to improve the acceleration/horsepower on this thing that's not terribly expensive?

I know it goes about 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. I would love to get it under 5 and closer to 4.5. Is this possible?

Basically no. No tuners, no turbos, no super chargers. Not yet anyway.

What's not terribly expensive? Guys on this board pay around $700 to lease their cars, so it can be subjective.

There was a member her who had the gif sport and had it supercharged..

Bunch of videos too on YouTube but they ended up removing everything even the thread he created here. I guess there was some discriprence against the makers of the supercharger :/

I believe the 5.3 seconds is a bit unrealistic for a stock GS 350 with 306 HP and ~3,900 lbs. Nevertheless, to reduce 0-60 mph just 0.1 (1/10th) second you need a lot more horsepower. To reduce 0-60 as much as you want (0.3 - 0.8 seconds) would take an additional 75 - 150 horsepower if RWD, and a bit less if the car is AWD.

As soon as I got through breakin I raced my buddy in his 328i with the turbo 2 liter and he pulled on me pretty hard. Even worse he added a $300 plug and play tune and now he pulls on me really hard. Took his quarter mile down to low 13s, which is solid for a 3500 pound car with a four banger. Too bad we don't have a turbo to turn up the boost on! But our v6 is silky smooth and stout in its own right!

Yep, that BMW twin turbo kicks in at really low RPM and makes a ton of torque for its size. It really makes that car move. Got a 328i M Sport in the family... It's unbelievably quick. I used to have a modified MR2 Turbo that had a high-performance 2 liter engine in which I had the turbo's boost pressure set at 18 psi. It was an absolute rocket. More and more car makers are using turbos nowadays.

Some of my BMW buddies "chip" their cars. They change the engine's programming to upgrade the performance. Check around to see if there's a possibility?

That works because it has a supercharged/turbocharger. Generally that doens't work well on a car without boost of some type.

The cheapest way to hit those numbers is to wait for a GS-F.
