Does anyone else have scratched tint on the front windows (the top 1/2 inch of the window)? Mine does, it appears to be from the window seals.
Yes. Are your windows dual pane? Mine are and have the issue.

For owners in CA, what is the safe tint %? 20% all round seems like cop magnet. I did have 20% before and I always rolled down my windows in hot day. I don't wanna do that anymore lol. Is 35% tint safe on the front? I know they can still pull you over but want little bit of tint on the front.

It varies from city to city. I had 30% all around in my TL before and gotten a ticket for front tinted windows by a cop who looked like he had just graduated from high school. I took the car back to the tint shop, had them remove it, went to the court house to pay for the fix-up ticket, then drove back to the tint shop to put it back on.

I went with 30% again this time as I feel I have a lesser chance of getting pulled over *knock wood*.
It'd be expensive removing and putting the ceramic tint back on.

Going back to my tint guy today to re tint my passenger window. I bought a roll of mole skin to stick in the molding to see if that will help with the top of the window tint getting scratched up. I'll report back whether or not it works..

Same % all around is like a magnet for cops... I always do 5% on rear and 50%(wife) or 35%(me) for front...

i'd go with 45-50% personally. 35% will still look dark if you have a dark interior. I had 35% on my old car and my cousin said he'd pull them over for it

I have red interior but I think I'll stick with 45-50%. CA cops really like to pull ppl over for tinting front windows =(

Has anyone had an issue with getting the very top corner of the front windows tinted?
I had mine tinted yesterday and the corners are exposed a little bit at the very top.

Top corner? Not sure what you mean.

I don't ever recall seeing window tint film being applied all the way to the very edge of the windows. My tints have always come about 1/16"-1/32" short of the top edge radius where the window's top edge is rounded.

I think if the window tint film was applied all the way to the edge the film would be far more likely to come loose because the window must seat into the door seal, and the tint film would receive full friction from the door seal.

Behind driver and passenger windows any tint is fine. So I go with the darkest limo 5%. Driver and passenger no more than 50%. You're definitely asking for trouble if you go with 35%. Windshield 80% or less and you can barely tell it's here. But will cut down on heat especially if you put a ceramic tint on the windshield. I've been doing this for the last 10 years on 4 cars and no problems here in SoCal.

Thanks, agreed, but I'm talking about the area in the corner where the window goes up into the frame.
My installer said it was due to the window track?

Hey guys - about to get my windows done. Being quoted around ~230 for Huper Optik Ceramic or Llumar (LlumaStar CTX) 35%. Fair deal?
