For owners in CA, what is the safe tint %? 20% all round seems like cop magnet. I did have 20% before and I always rolled down my windows in hot day. I don't wanna do that anymore lol. Is 35% tint safe on the front? I know they can still pull you over but want little bit of tint on the front.

It varies from city to city. I had 30% all around in my TL before and gotten a ticket for front tinted windows by a cop who looked like he had just graduated from high school. I took the car back to the tint shop, had them remove it, went to the court house to pay for the fix-up ticket, then drove back to the tint shop to put it back on.
I went with 30% again this time as I feel I have a lesser chance of getting pulled over *knock wood*.
It'd be expensive removing and putting the ceramic tint back on.

I don't ever recall seeing window tint film being applied all the way to the very edge of the windows. My tints have always come about 1/16"-1/32" short of the top edge radius where the window's top edge is rounded.
I think if the window tint film was applied all the way to the edge the film would be far more likely to come loose because the window must seat into the door seal, and the tint film would receive full friction from the door seal.

My installer said it was due to the window track?
