Lease end return question..no release of liability form?help please.
piggy backing off my previous thread, i am located in California.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...5-f-sport.html
i had to swap some stuff so i returned my '13 GS today to the dealer today, and all they gave me was a lexus odometer disclosure statement
https://www.lexusfinancial.com/pub/s...-statement.pdf
being the paranoid person i am, i asked to make sure this is all i needed and they said yes.
just felt weird not getting a release of liability form after giving up my car to them.
i checked dmv online and i filled out a release of liability form online using toyota financial as the buyer.
https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/vr/leased
https://www.dmv.ca.gov/nrl/nrlApplication.do
but it states.
Does the NRL remove my name from the vehicle record?
No. Only the buyer's application for transfer, using the endorsed title received from you, can do that. When the information required on the NRL is received by DMV and updated to the record, you are no longer responsible for civil or criminal actions arising with the vehicle after the date of sale.
now, since this was technically still a lease return as they paid for my 4 remaining payments, im wondering what the protocol is when you return a lease? don't you get a release of liability sheet?

There's no title or buyer because you're not the owner of the car, they are. You've got the odometer statement, that's all you need to prove you surrendered the vehicle to them.
Even when I've traded in a lease that's all I've ever gotten

What he said, you may still be charged later though for any large scratches if any.
