Default Had a special loaner car yesterday that REALLY made me appreciate the GS...

My Ding guy had the GS yesterday, he has a few cars that he lets customers drive for the day while he's doing PDR...which is really nice.

Anyways...it was an AWESOME 2001 Honda Accord with only 225,000 miles on it!

I mean...wow was it a pile. Driver's door didn't lock...top of the steering wheel had the plastic worn down to the center metal core. There was something...significantly...wrong with the rear suspension. Clunking like I've never heard. Windows were tinted!...On the passenger side. Driver's seat wouldn't adjust forward or back, so I got to kind of sit up on the edge. Had an aftermarket stereo...couldn't figure out how to turn it on. Steering had a HUGE dead spot where there was just no input going to the wheels.

Man was it special. Getting back into the GS was an incredible experience. Made me feel very fortunate LOL

Don't get me wrong, it was a set of wheels and I really appreciated him having some loaners vs me having to sit around and try and work from a waiting room...don't blame him for just buying cheap disposable cars for it as its a perk I never would have expected from a PDR shop...just figured you'd all appreciate the story.

Absolutely. Lets just say that evening I had several late appointments. I attended them with a newfound appreciation for the blessing of having work available to help provide for the cars I have LOL

My dealer loans out IS250s and RX350s. I appreciate the GS even more after driving the IS250 for a day or two. It's just too cramped for me and lacks power and all the luxuries we are accustomed to having.

1 day with the IS250 loaner and I already wanted my GS back, and when I got it back I was grinning the whole time driving home.

This wasn't for the service, this was while a ding was being removed. For the service my wife and I just carpooled for the day and I drove the Jeep.

I kinda like zipping around in the little IS. Its fun for a day then I want my GS back LOL

My dealer has an RX, ES and CT. They gave my the CT once.. man never again. There is also a world of difference between the ES and GS.
Also, I don't miss the power of my GS when driving my IS....F hehe.

Great story, Steve! I was trying to remember the last time I drove a beater like that. I think it was in the early 1980s. I went up to Mass to take a DEC computer course and stayed with relatives. I was loaned a 1967 Mustang coupe with the 289 V-8 and not much of anything else (floorboards, heater, radio, etc.) As I recall, I never had a better time bombing around the hills and curves of New England. Thanks for bringing that back...
