Default GS in the SNOW (merged threads)

I've had my four month old 4GS in the garage the last two weeks. I've been driving my Acura instead. It has AWD, but I don't want to get any salt on it. Anyone actually taking their 4GS out in the snow?

Whats the point of getting the AWD GS then????? Really waste of money then. It does perfectly well in the snow with good all seasons or winter tires. I drive it through 8 inch of snow on the highway without issues in Michigan last winter and its going to snow a lot tomorrow and my F-sport is going to go though 4-6 inch of snow with salt. I didn't buy this car to waste it. It drives great in all weather. I will wash it when it need it to be done. HEll it does better then several of my SUVs I had in the past and my BMW and Audi.

I wish mine was in a garage but sadly it is not. I too have been taking my old ES from the past snow we got. With this storming coming up. It prob won't be for a few days till I drive the GS again.

No choice. Lexus only sells the AWD really in our regions, you'd have to special order a RWD or get one from down south. I would have opted for RWD if I could have easily.

I'm not afraid to drive it in the snow, its just that we have the Jeep for that.

Sounds like most of you guys are like me---protect the 4GS and drive the other (older) vehicle that we decided to keep just in case. My Acura RDX laughs at the snow. Why should I dirty up my Lexus?

I figured most of you yankees had an AWD beater for the 6 month winter you get up there. I know in North Dakota it's common to have a winter beater and a summer car. The winter car only has 3 requirements; doors that shut, heater that blows hot, and tires that hold air.

I'd hardly call a 2011 Grand Cherokee and a 2008 Acura RDX beaters

True, but Maryland probably has a few more bucks per capita than North Dakota.

If you're worried about getting salt etc. on it, then put a coating on it. OC 2.0, CQF, 22PLE, G Tecniq. You have plenty to choose from.

The problem is we have to walk in salt and snow just to go in and out of stores. I don't want that crap getting inside my Lexus.

Had a dry window (sky and ground) yesterday late and took the 4GS out for a spin. But expecting more snow today, maybe six inches, so back inside the garage goes my baby!

No garage queen here. Just go clean it when you think it is too dirty. I did the summer/winter car routine for almost 10 years and I'm sick of it. One car year round (maybe a convertible on the side) and I'm good to go!

No way is my baby getting salted and snowed on. She still needs a wash, but I'll keep her inside out of the big bad bully snow.
