Thanks everyone for the kind words. I figured that if I had hit that tire I would have had a bad night and possible injuries. I dont want anyone behind me suffer that fate. Because that would be bad karma if I had left it there.
You should have seen the size of that thing it was half the size of my car. And it must have weigh well over 100 pounds. How that tire got there is a mystery to me.

Probably a truck carrying used tires dropped one.

Try driving in Texas. Here its a normal thing to see: tires, book shelves, ladders, or just plain old pianos on the roads. People seem to aim for your lane at least 5-6 times a day, and no one knows what is the turn signal is for. And if you ask them if they know what turn signal is, they will shoot you.
I was headed back to Dallas from Fort Worth. If you cut through on I30E and take the "cavern" to 75 Northbound, there's a single lane high speed ramp that is pretty wide. Well, I was swinging around it around 50-55mph, no cars close to me, when I see a full size dishwasher in the center of the lane. While the wtf part of my brain was trying to process what it was and why it was there, I managed to dodge it no problem. I immediately called 911 afterwards and reported it so the road crew could go move the damn thing.
I've also seen people moving with tons of crap in their truck held down with duct tape and christmas tree rope, with furniture literally flying out the back. I honk and flash my headlights when I see that kind of stuff. Half the time it works, half the time they just keep truckin. Dangerously stupid people around here sometimes.
The worst, most un-dodge-able thing I hit was in my old Infiniti G35. Raining, 45 degrees outside, night time, 4 lane highway near Texarkana with a gigantic median with trees in it. Out of nowhere I see a big white dog jogging towards me next to the fast lane then it cuts a 90 degree turn right as I'm about to pass by. 90 degrees...right into my front bumper. At 70mph. I felt pretty bad but realized it was a coyote, and apparently this isn't uncommon for that area. He left a good dent in my front license plate and cracked the bumper cover where the plate attaches but no other damage was done. Lesson here is never swerve for animals, take the hit and hope for the best. If I would have tried to dodge him I probably would have ended up on the roof in the ditch.
