Default 30,000 Mile Service cost

Put my GS in to have the brake recall done, and I figured since it was there to avoid a trip to my independent mechanic I would just have them do the 30k service too. I have been surprised up until now that their prices aren't that much more than at my mechanic's shop. $99 for the 5k, $170 for the 10k (w/oil change). I think my guy charged me $79 for the 5k and $129 for the 10k, so the extra $20-$50 is worth it for the loaner and ease, etc.

Well...I was astonished at the cost of the 30k service at the dealer...$490! Only difference between 30k and 20k is a brake fluid flush and brake pad measurements, etc. I told him to just do the brake recall, I'm going to call my guy in the morning and a couple other dealers and get prices. I'd really like to just have it all done while its over there, but if I can save $200 by taking it to my guy I will.

Come to think of it...don't they have to do a brake fluid flush during the brake recall anyway?

Note "brake fluid flush" is just turkey basting out the brake fluid reservoir and then filling it up with new fluid. It's not a system flush at all - I think the Lexus term of art is: "brake fluid replacement." You saved your money just like I did with my LS. Even my service guy admitted the only real substance in the 30k service was oil and filter change.

P.S. Recall sounds like a pedal replacement, nothing hydraulic.

Yeah its just a "fluid replacement" like you say. Only other items are the cabin and engine air filter.

I do believe that the brake recall at least requires bleeding the brakes afterwards, theres more to it than just the pedal assembly...I'm trying to find the letter they sent me but I'm not having much luck

Filters from Sewell, take 5 minutes max to replace. Be sure to vacuum out your engine air filter box - amazing the sticks and bugs and stuff that can collect in there!

Pretty much. I don't find that unreasonable given that its at the Lexus dealer, I got use of a loaner for the day and didn't have to wait around. Not a lot of places with the perks of a Lexus dealer that will do anything for you for less than $99...

Yeah I don't have an issue replacing filters and such myself, really what I just need done is the oil change, the tire rotation, and the brake fluid change.

Just an update. Called around, dealer it was at was $490. Another dealer was $475. Another dealer was $590! My guy is going to do it for $300. Picked it up today and I'm taking it to him and leaving it with him for the day monday. A hassle to have to make another stop, but worth it to save $190.

If I am not mistaken, you cant rotate tires on the gs350 f-sport, they are not the same size.

Cabin and engine air filters, smart key battery (that ones my favorite lol), and a bunch of "inspections".

Weird. Paying for the 5k and 10k? Both were free at my dealership. First two services are on the house and the 10k includes the oil change. I figured it was like this across the board at all dealers.

No I got the 5k and 10k free. I paid for 15k and 20k which were the "5k and 10k" level services. Should have been more clear.

Free sodas, pastries, coffee, comfy leather couches > walking 3 blocks to Starbucks.

On the surface, I agree. When the difference is $20-50...sure. But...for a $200 difference I'd rather take it to my independent guy and carpool with my wife that day, and then go out for a nice dinner afterwards. Hell...if I rented a car for the day I'd still be $150 ahead...

For $200 difference, I'll walk 6 blocks to Starbucks.

Forget the leather chairs, free donuts and the hot receptionists.
