I have a 2014 GS350 AWD F-Sport - I've found that if I drive in Eco mode the entire time and keep the revs below 2000 rpms when accelerating from a stop (at traffic lights / stop signs for example) - not saying I lug the engine around to keep the rpms low - I leave it in automatic the entire time, so the car is still downshifting when it is necessary - I can get much better gas mileage. Last tank, I stopped leaving the tank average on the MID and switched it to something else - drove in Normal mode and just drove normally and I got 17.23mpg over 136 miles (mostly "city" driving). In comparison, my previous tank was driven in Eco mode, and I focused on keeping the revs low (no hard acceleration) and I got 22.23 mpg over 269 miles - my best so far but there were a lot more highway miles.

My overall average is 19.31 mpg - generally I drive about 70% city driving and 30% highway.

At $3.52 per gallon (price for 93 octane right now where I normally fill up), driving 10,000 miles a year it would cost me about $218 more per year if I consistently got 17mpg instead of 19mpg. At $4.50/gallon it would be $280.

I would love if the GS got better gas mileage (closer to what say the new Acura TLX is getting - owner of the FWD V6 TLX are getting close to 40mpg highway!) - I think it is one of the drawbacks of this car, especially considering it is a 3.5L making ~300hp. Some of you may say that owning a Luxury car means you shouldn't care - but I don't think any of you would complain if the car got 31mpg highway and 21 mpg city, thats what the Acura TLX SH-AWD gets.

I'm not saying we should all go out and buy the TLX, I'm just saying the TLX is a 3.5L making 290hp so it is not that much different in terms of engine size and output and it returns much better gas mileage thanks to features like VCM (the engine switches to using only 3 cylinders when cruising on the highway) and idle-stop. Hopefully Lexus will update the GS350 with a new engine for the mid-cycle refresh in MY2016.

I'm getting about 19-20 MPG on my 2013 AWD with about 20k miles. 70% city/30% highway. I'm usually driving in sports mode.

I agree 100%, it's sad that my double cab long bed 4x4 v6 tacoma averages 19mpg, where my gs averages 21mpg. You would think that a car should get much better than a truck. if you add in the cost difference between regular and premium, it's cheaper to drive the truck... i really wish they made a 450H AWD (and that i could afford it, lol).

I haven't found much of a difference between eco mode and normal mode. I still get about the same amount of MPG. I do notice the car ****s ealier though in eco mode and the AC sucks big time in ECO mode. I generally just leave it in Normal mode. This week doing about 90% expressway, I am getting about 22MPG. Driving fast really hurts the MPG but I don't really mind as I drive less than 10K miles a year.

Yes I noticed the same thing. Weaker AC and no noticeable MPG difference. I just use Eco in heavy traffic and super long drive at a steady speed.

The manual says to only use ECO for city driving. It makes a negligible MPG difference on highway driving. It helps with city driving because it eases into the throttle.

I live in Chicago and generally most of my driving is like 80% is city, bumper to bumper traffic. Even the expressways feel like city driving as it's often congested. Idling and start/stop driving really cuts down on the MPG. Still I haven't seen much of a difference.

This past week has been different as I took a long trip out the countryside and made some long cruises. Generally, I'll be seeing 18-19 MPG in the city.

I wonder how many miles you guys have on some of your cars? I've found that modern cars don't break in (to peak gas mileage, anyway) until 10-15k miles.

That being said I have about 3,000 miles on the car, I average about 26 MPG on the highway @ 80 mph, and mixed I'm getting about 21 MPG. I'd imagine all city would put me around 17 - 18 MPG. Over the life of the car I've gotten 20.3 MPG and I've noticed that's been steadily rising. I'm almost always in "Normal" mode, and my car is RWD.

I have a 2013 Luxury AWD with 25,000 on it now. I always leave it in "normal" unless I decide to "play" some .

I am not a light jumper and not heavy footed, 60% highway 40% city. At 70 mph, I normally get 27.9 - 30.2 mpg. City driving 19-21 mpg. Always using 93 Premium gas and keeping tires 37 psi cold all around. If I go faster on the highway 75-78 mph, 26.5- 27.5 mpg. If you start getting heavy footed especially in the city or if you "playing" ... mpg's drop quickly.

I was getting worried, but it sounds like our driving habits are pretty similar so I'm hopeful my MPG will match yours when I get the car. I've been averaging ~26MPG in my IS350 which is also supposed to have horrible gas mileage so here's to hoping!

I'm curious what are you guy's averaging per tank? I'm looking at the GS or getting an RC within the next 6 months..

I have 14' GX and my average its 16.7mpg when I drive, BUT when my wife drive she can't go more then 13.5 mpg. my friend have 14'gs awd and his mpg its worst then my heavy GX.

We aren't buying for mpg but it would be nice if the window sticker claiming 19/29 for a '14 RWD wasn't such a lie. It's a lie. Do you like being lied to? Lolololololololololololol no I bet you don't.
