As for paint, the issue is the new low VOC and eco friendly paints. Its not anything having to do with Japanese cars vs anything else...and I really think something is wrong with the paint on this wheel.
I agree, the wheel paint on the F Sports is just bad in general. Eco friendly paints suck. I think they need to pony up a few bucks on the production side and go to a ceramic coating like Mercedes is doing. I don't think passing an extra grand on to the consumer is going to kill us if we can avoid putting stickers on all the forward-facing surfaces to keep the paint from chipping.

FYI, Mercedes has abandoned "ceramiclear" paint. Too difficult to refinish and it wasn't achieving in the real world what they hoped that it would. Anyways, the Ceramiclear paint wasn't for chip resistance it was for scratch resistant.

So the clear coat melted some of the paint and created more faded spots, so I just scraped off the paint in the surrounding area and made a square and touched up that area.

Any chemical that touches this paint messes it up. But Mequiar's Quik Detailer and Wax spray are ok.

That liquid platinum is beautiful...was our first choice of color. One of our F sport wheels also got a minor blemish very easily when we had tire repaired... Looks like Vossen's in future maybe.

Clearcoat failure. You sure the wheels didn't have this before? Because if they did, they came like this from the factory and warranty will cover it.

I had all 4 wheels replaced by Lexus... given brand new ones, just to turn around and have the new ones refinished. I see it's a common problem... interesting. this is when I had the OB GS F Sport.

I would complain to the carwash, not Lexus. Not Lexus' fault.

While this may be true, how many cars have wheels that lose paint that easily? I really hope I don't developed this issue.

This paint melts by just looking at it. Give it a deep angry stare and the whole paint will strip.

Lexus should've powder coated the damn thing.
