So this is what it looks like now. lol

So the clear coat melted some of the paint and created more faded spots, so I just scraped off the paint in the surrounding area and made a square and touched up that area.

Any chemical that touches this paint messes it up. But Mequiar's Quik Detailer and Wax spray are ok.

Maybe I should just turn this wheel into a coffee table like this.

My proposed suggestion, and plan is to just let them all go.. Eventually have them professionally refinished to be more durable, along with my color preference.

I certainly wouldn't leave them like that. Something is wrong with that wheel at least and it should be replaced.

Dealer should refinish, if they give you lip just have the local Lexus area rep meet you at the dealer for inspection. This is a clear case of faulty work from the factory.

Anyone else wondering when Japanese cars will get world-class paint? I am. The chip on my hood stares me in the face like a bird dropping. A deep white spot on a black hood...like a pimple on the prom queen's nose.

I guess it depends on how good the shop is that does the repair.

What do you consider world-class? You mean like Mercedes?

My past 3 Audis had rock chips. I don't think this is confined to Japanese cars.

I had a wheel refinished while I waited, took an hour and looks perfect.

As for paint, the issue is the new low VOC and eco friendly paints. Its not anything having to do with Japanese cars vs anything else...and I really think something is wrong with the paint on this wheel.

Same here - when I took my car home on day one I found some curb rash on one of the rims that the dealer had done. The dealer agreed to fix it for free so we setup a time when the wheel repair guys would be at the dealer and I waited about an hour for them to repair it - when they were done it looked brand new, couldn't tell the difference between the untouched wheels and the repaired one except the repaired one was a lot cleaner

They did overinflate the tire though, it was at 40psi - ugh. The others were all at around 34 psi. Had to fix everything so the fronts were 34psi and the rears were 35psi (recommendation on the door sticker for the GS350 AWD F-Sport).

That's why I don't like taking it to the dealer, sometimes u end up with more new problems than the one u want fix, like more rashes on the wheels or scratched this and that.
