As of yesterday the gas pedal started losing power completely. It only happens for a brief moment when I'm driving and only in the morning. The car does not shake, rpms don't drop and no check engine light. I'm not sure what's going on, I can't replicate it so going to Lexus is pointless at this point.

I was thinking maybe its my fuel pump going bad?

Pump gas recently? Bad gas? H2O leak into gas station holding tank?

Yeah I'd blame the fuel too. Did you put some 86 octane in it to save 5 bucks? Did you go to a station you normally don't visit? Has it done it before?

If the fuel system or fuel pump are having problems, the ECU is gonna throw codes. A temporary bog may be your car working around a spot of bad fuel and making an adjustment on the fly.

You may want to see if the dealer can drain the tank and refuel it. I don't know how else to eliminate a bad tank of gas as a variable.<Edit, throw a bottle of octane booster into that tank. If it goes away, you know what happened and which station to avoid.

Yeah it could be the fuel, that's what I'm hoping for. Then again, I never put anything below 93 in this car.

When it happened yesterday I just ignored it, but today I tried flooring it, with no response.

Agreed. With 93 in the tank it shouldn't act like this.

I agree with the others. Fuel wouldn't cause such a drastic or sudden drop in performance. I assume you are not getting a check engine light either to indicate an obvious sensor failure.

I would still recommend taking it to the dealer as you car is probably still under warranty, especially for such a serious issue. The cars engine management system actually logs quite a bit of data that they might find to diagnose the problem.

Perhaps you were driving either a BMW, Mercedes, Audi or others before jumping into the Lexus? just kidding, wanted to beat the other trolls to it.

Not yet, I'm dropping the car off on Satruday. I was able to record a video, I want their techs to see it.

Dropped the car off today. Their master tech is not in today, so the car will be there until Monday.

and of course, on the way to the dealership it drove perfectly fine! <sigh> I hope on Monday the problem will come back, otherwise I'll get a broken car back

Got the CT as a loaner... LOL this roach can barely move.......

I had a similar problem with my 5 Series BMW, it was a bad cam sensor.

I did some research and discovered that this was common in the ES models. Perhaps, it came over to the GS?
