Default Verizon S5 update: Receiving text messages

Just got updated to version 4.4.4 of Verizon software on my S5. My S3 was always able to receive text message notifications in the GS, but not on the S5. Was driving today and I was pleasantly surprised to receive an incoming text on my navigation screen.

Anyone else notice this?

This is why you don't buy a samsung phone, they suck. If you want to get a Android get HTC or the Nexus line

Never will i understand how so many people fall in to those samsung advertisements

I don't understand too why is the Samsung so successful with theirs plastic toys. HTC or Sony makes nice crafted solid Android phones I have now Sony Xperia Z1 Compact and at the end of day I am still having 50% battery. Few calls a day, morning toilet news a lot of messaging and 3 hrs of bluetooth streaming music in car using LTE. I've never had a smartphone with such good battery life-time

I don't own a Samsung but in this case Android 4.4.2 is the culprit, not Samsung. There is a Bluetooth problem with that version that was fixed in 4.4.3.

its 4.4.2 that's the issue.

for those on Verizon with Samsung devices, you wont see 4.4.3, Verizon went from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4

My S4 worked until the 4.4.2 update. I'm still waiting for my Verizon S4 to get the update. I also carry a Note3 with 4.4.2 and it works just fine. Strange.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about...

My S3, S4, S5 all got text messages... Bluetooth Message Access Protocol was always part of android. S5 released with 4.4.2 where the text messages WORKED...

Text message in GS only failed to work if you forgot to choose a default messaging app in your phone.

What does NOT work on Samsung is Bluetooth MAP on Emails. that is all.

Depending on your carrier, you may not have been affected. My S4 worked perfectly until the 4.4.2 update. Now bluetooth continually loses and regains connectivity. Samsung and Verizon has admitted to this and have promised me a fix. Should be any day now they say. Grrrrrr.

I have no idea what YOU'RE talking about because my phone is on 4.4.2 and bluetooth is screwed. Constantly disconnects. I also spoke with the Lexus tech department yesterday and it's a known issue affecting a TON of people. It has nothing to do with selecting a default messaging app.
