I've asked the same question with no replies. I'm considering swapping the stock 10" with a quality sub and an amplifier. Curious how it would sound

It depends on what you're used to as far as bass. If you just want a slight increase in bass, replacing the stock sub should be fine. But if you want it really loud that you can feel it in your seat, you're gonna need a sub in an enclosure.

I'm good with how "loud" it is... I'd just like more low end output. The stock setup is very "midrange bass"

Yea I know what you mean. You'd probably have to get a 10" or 12" sub with an enclosure and maybe a bass processor along with it. The bass processor will increase the lower frequencies.

Sounds beautiful..

My factory sub and amp are still connected, so I can just turn off extra sub and amp when I need to.

Nice full rich in your face bass....

Excuse the mess.

Nice selection! What size sub did you go with?

I had a 10" type-R in my Z and still wanted more low.

Default Rockford Fosgate

Rockford Fosgate makes a great powered sub in a 10" or 12" with a built in 300w amp. I got my 12" installed two weeks ago and it's added just the right amount of bass for me:

I think 12" is the ideal balance for getting really low frequencies that are solid and controlled. My friend had a 12" Type R and it hit so much lower than my 10". #bassenvy
