Paddle shifters M to D
I just noticed this, maybe I'm the last to know:
While driving in any mode in Auto - override the gear by downshifting with the paddle shifter - it will hold the gear for a while, depending on RPM / pedal position etc. - if you want to return back to "D" you can upshift back to D6 (which shows D) or you can hold Shift + (upshift) for 2-3 seconds and it returns to "D". This is handy if you just downshifted to 2 for a sharp corner and want to return to normal driving.
This will not work if the gear selector is in M

It's handy when u need more power for passing too. Like I mentioned in the other thread, this 8-speed tranny hesitates to downshift further to give me more power when I'm passing at 50+ MPH. I have to help it downshift one or two more gears to get the power I need. I'm guessing the older 6-speed does not have this issue. I know my Camry V6 with 6-speed tranny had no problem going faster. lol

The ZF in my 5 series was totally seamless on a downshift.

Yes, that is how it works when you're in D.
