Warming up your car before driving will create less wear on your engine thus increasing its life. Todays engines are design to run more efficient during optimal temperature range. My GS in particular runs alot better when warm. When I drive off when engine is cold the transmission shift rough and engine is very loud very lazy like. Ive warmed up all my cars I own and never ever had engine problems. I owned an ls430 in which I bought brand new in 2006 has had 230,000 miles on its odometer and still runs like a champ. Plus, dispite warming up my GS every time I goto work I am still getting 25 mpg average.

Certainly not needed...but very nice.

To add insult to injury for us Lexus remote start people...just replaced our Jeep with a new one today. The remote start activates the heated seats and wheel if the outside temp is below a certain temp...and activates the AC and the ventilated seats when its above a certain temp.

Come on Lexus...you can do better.

after a few trips to the dealership, they told me that they will not refund nor remove the starter..

I am gonna make a few more calls, but these guys are getting 0 thru 0 on the survey!

If a Lexus dealer installs a RS, does that then mean that the RS is covered by the full factory warranty or is it a separate item? Certainly if installed at factory, it would be covered under full warranty.

I think the problem with the Lexus remote start is that it utilizes the normal keyless entry range which is pretty short. The keyless range specification from Toyota is VERY short compared to that of other manufacturers, like GM. For Toyota products you can expect a range of around 35 meters or so. With GM you're talking 100 - 150.

I changed the setting on my car so that I can roll down the windows/moon roof with the fob but I find that the range is also very short. It would be nice if I could roll them down when I leave the building (I park way out on the side) instead of having to be within a few seconds walking distance so that the car can cool down a bit more before I get into it.

it is under the warranty, but there is nothing they can do, they all seem to have a very short range. I simply asked for money back since it was installed after.

Hold down the unlock button on your key fob. If it doesn't work you have to ask your dealer to enable this feature. I have no idea why it's not enabled by default.

Stopped by dealer today and they that function is set to off by default because of complaints from folks finding their windows open, He said likely from sitting on key or some other accidental thing. Going to go in on Monday and have them do it.

Dealer did the change today gratis. I like it. As soon as you let go of unlock button, windows stop opening so you can just "crack" them if you want.

Really? Thats great. I decided against activating that feature in fear of accidentally activating it but if you have to hold the button the entire time it makes me feel a little better.

Yep I hold for second to crack the windows. Have not tried it yet, but I think if you hold down until windows fully open the sun roof would then also open.

Yes the moon roof won't start opening until the rear windows are almost completely down. You have to hold on to the unlock button for like 5+ seconds for that to happen. I can't imagine someone accidentally doing that.

I love this feature as I get to air out the car as I'm walking in. Makes a huge difference on a hot summer day. I just wish we could remotely roll up the windows as well.
