on the 2016 I cant seem to figure out if you can control how bright the lighting is on, hope there is

There is no direct control but there are options available to change how the interior ambient light functions. Its not that customizable at all though.

I thought the interior mood lighting dimmed with the dash?

I wanna know the same thing. I noticed the ambient door lighting gets too dim while in drive. I was riding in my friends E class the other day and his ambient lighting was very bright while driving...i think it ads more class to the cabin while riding. I can barely see mine at night.

Ours isn't that noticeable when in drive. Wish it was bright like it was in my Camaro.
