The behind the scenes was cool.

I find it interesting that it was co-sponsored by Pirelli, and that the cars had Pirelli winter tires...yet I have never ever seen a Lexus come from the factory with Pirelli tires lol

I have a 2008 Acura RDX with SH-AWD. It is that good. Although I like the AWD in my 4GS too. To attract more housewives, Acura stupidly dropped SH-AWD from the RDX this past model year, and substituted regular AWD. They also removed the turbo charger. That's how I ended up in a Lexus showroom for the first time in my life. I was going to get new RDX, but when I saw what they did to it, I decided to look around at other companies. So I leased my 4GS (my first ever lease) because I wasn't familiar with Lexus quality, and just in case kept my 2008 RDX.

Actually the IS/GS AWD are similar to an off road SUV – they have a separate transfer case to enclose the differential and the limit slip clutch unit.

That's what makes it absolutely horrible...

Trying to do donuts with 1 feet of fresh snow, empty parking lot, DSC off, WOT, and this thing just refuses to spin and takes off in a straight line like nothing.

Such a horrible system when you just want to have some fun.

I'd assume in a rally cross against its competitor the AWD of the GS would be superior.

Do a big snow drift instead of small donuts maybe?

I was kidding. With enough speed, of course you can slide it, but the AWD with snow tires makes it a monster in the snow. Have never got stuck with this car in Canadian winter.

The AWD system on your GS is the same as on the IS, right?

I got an IS350 recently (haven't picked it up yet ) and a major reason why I chose the IS350 was because of the AWD system as described above. It just seemed like a superior system that is robust and reliable.

My IS and GSs have been incredible in the snow, even on stock all seasons.
