Angry My F-Sport rear ended

Only after 8 months and 6200 miles of ownership, and this is what happened to me yesterday as I was on my work break in mid-afternoon to go to the bank. Long story short: I was in the fast lane braked to a complete stop on a main road (speed limit 40mph), and the driver behind me in a Toyota Land Cruiser did not brake early enough to avoid colliding into me as he tried to cross over to the lane next over, ended up more than clipping my rear bumper as seen in the pics below Important thing is everyone involved is OK from the accident, no injuries at all.

Luckily that driver and I have the same insurance carrier (Geico), thus they've been pretty swift as far as expediting the claim to get the repair process going (especially with the fact that I'm not at fault from the accident so I don't pay anything out of pocket). Just hoping for a relatively swift turnaround to get the GS repaired professionally at the body shop (Daya's Custom Auto) my service advisor recommended.

Again, just my luck (and I'm the type of person who looks after my vehicles with a fine tooth cone) but I guess in this day and age in the state of Florida (aka no-fault state of high insurance premiums) accidents around here are almost unavoidable

Sorry to hear. Good luck with the repair. I've heard its difficult to paint match your color. I remember seeing a post about the exact color getting corrected and re-corrected. It took them awhile to fix it. Hope the member will chime in to give you some tips.

Make sure you put in a diminished value claim with Geico against the other persons policy. Diminished Value is the loss in a vehicle's value as a result of having been damaged. Depending upon the severity of sustained damages and the quality and thoroughness of the repair, a portion of its original value is restored; the extent of which must be determined by a recognized Diminished Value Expert.

A few years ago I brought a used 2006 LS430 2nd day I had it guy hit me head on airbags came out. So of course the accident will show on your carfax it will be hard to sell or trade. Anyway I got the report which was $165 and they determined my car lost $5600 in value due to the accident (not my fault) I submitted the information to the other person Insurance company which was Geico and they cut me a cut for the $5600 based off the report. Insurance companies hate that but its so worth it for the long run. Geico gave me a hard time but it was so worth it. you can get the report from

I agree if they fix it he can submit a diminished value claim for the vehicle loss in value. However I believe its totaled too because its hit on the rear corner panel and the GS is Uni body. I wouldn't want that back.

I'd rather have it totaled if it was my car cause to me a repaired car wouldn't be the same anymore. Even if it got professionally fixed, I know in my head that it has been damaged. That looks pretty bad too.

This is the thought that's going on in my head every time I see a big SUV / Truck is riding on my tail, especially on a stop and go traffic.

The same thing happened to me with my Acura MDX. The important thing is, you're okay. It's just a car, it can be replaced.
