Wow that's bad. Insurance these days tries not to total cars. The repair ship is going to have to quote the repair probably around $30k to get it totaled. You definitely don't want it repaired (if it's even repairable) because you'll have mismatched paint, misaligned panels, and who knows what else.
Good luck and keep us posted

In many states, you can force the other insurance company to pay you for diminished value. The value of this car will be less simply because of the nature of the damage and it showing up on future carfax reports. The value difference is probably about 2500.00 to 3000.00 in comparison to a vehicle with no prior damage.

A total loss for sure. Too much damage to the side member that will never be corrected without distortions, paint issues, rattles, and you name it. Not to mention the underbody and overall fit. Sorry to see but glad you are ok!!

Thanks for all the concerns everyone, much appreciated! Here's a quick status update:
- I have been seeing a chiropractor starting today after experiencing some minor back pain from yesterday. He's proceeding with claiming bodily injury from the other party's insurance so we'll see what happens.
- An appointment is made for a claims adjuster to inspect the GS on Wednesday (unfortunately this is the earliest date available thru Geico). In the meantime it is sitting in despair on my driveway
- The GS is a lease, so from what I've been told by others, I don't have to worry about diminished value or if the car were a total loss because I automatically have gap insurance from the Lexus lease. Seems there is light at the end of the tunnel

Yep that's insanely ****ty. Looks as bad in pictures as it dose in real life. Those old land cruisers with the big steel bumpers are crazy strong so he must have been flying when he hit you, I see the possibility of it being totaled too now. Glad you're ok man.
