No rubbing and I didn't have to make any modifications. My personal opinion here, I want to quantify that im certainly no tire expert, but if you can get 285s on there do it. Again my opinion, but even my 285 Michelins looked just a little "stretched" and the wider you could go the better. hope it works out for you.
I see you're in Orlando, Im in Tampa and if you're worried about fitment try the discount tire guys out. I have no affiliation to DT but I drive the 40 miles to the Lakeland Discount Tire store because DT always seem to go out of their way make their customers happy. Just bought some 35x12.50x20 Nitto trail grapplers for my Tundra that I just had a 6" lift put on. The shop that did my lift wanted to sell me tires also but im just loyal to DT these days. Anyway I want to change the stock 20" wheels and wrap my Nittos around some Fuel drillers 20x12 44 offset which is a very aggressive setup for the tundra and the discount tire guys have already ordered the wheels for me and we are going to test fit this weekend. Even the guys at Fuel said we may need to do some work to get those wheels on and the DT guys are going to help me out. Not sure how many shops would test fit wheels and tires for you

I haven't had any issues with rubbing at all. I don't put many miles on my car since I travel for work during the week. 2013GS350, im curious, are your front and rear tires both wearing out? where are your tires wearing out? in my '06 GS350 the inner part of my tires wore out much faster than the rest of the tire. Also, what tire pressure are you running?
