Default Price of a new headlight?

Has anyone had to purchase a new headlight or seen a price tag on a new headlight. My headlight works fine but builds condensation on the inside.

Worst case scenario, if I have to come out of pocket for it what will it run me?

Anyone know of any online parts stores that sell them cheaper?

I've seen online prices for these. $1500+ per headlamp, more like $1700+ if you have the adaptive headlights, and $2300+ with night view. LED headlights are even more (like $3,000), I heard.

What year is your car? If you posting in this section then I would assume you're driving a 2013+ GS? If so, your car is under warranty, get the headlight replaced for free at the dealer.

2013... Bought it used. Im worried about the dealership saying that it was in a previous accident or something that wasn't reported. Im planning for the worst, haha

Wonder of they sell the headlamp plastic without the lights/LEDs etc... everything is fine, just leaks somewhere for some reason

Oh I see, and you did not buy the car from a dealer?

Examine your headlight. Do you have any tabs broken at the top? Take a look at the top of the headlight, there are 2 tabs holding in place. See if any tabs have cracks. If so, that's how the water gets inside. It's an easy fix, all you'll need to do is to take the headlight off and buy some epoxy glue.

Another option is to look for a used headlight on ebay. You can find one in good condition for less than $600.

Regardless of whether it was purchased from a dealer or not, it should still be under warranty (unless you are over the 48k miles)
If there is damage to the headlight area from any accident, you may have to pay out of pocket, but other than that, it should be covered by warranty.

My experiences with the 3GS light is that they cannot just change out the plastic piece. You have to order the entire new fixture which was around $2k. Good luck.

Hope and pray the dealer will "goodwill" the part if you're out of warranty.

I bought it from a used car dealer (not a lexus dealership) and it's still under warranty. The car has no accidents (non reported anyways) but the local lexus dealership says to me, "these things don't leak, you must have been in an accident. If that's the case then it's not warrantied'.

I may try and seal it myself, cant afford $2000 for nothing. Headlight works great. no cracks or missing tabs... just builds up moisture when i wash it or when it rains. Still working with the dealership, but they seem to be very intent on this being my problem via an accident. Weird

That is BS. Does he have proof that there was an accident? If not, tell them to fix it

I'm still working on it... He even said "I see no evidence of an accident BUT these things don't just leak". Maybe I'll try a different dealership.

I'd advise you not to touch it at all. Doing anything to it yourself will definitely void the warranty on them. If the dealer you're working with doesn't cooperate, try another dealer or write a nice letter to corporate.

Did they just give a quick once over? Or did they inspect it thoroughly? Just like anything glass/hard plastic which has seals, they occasionally leak. Could just be misaligned. Just like Yardie876 said, take it to another dealership. Looks like you are in FL, you should have ample choices down there. Even if you have to drive a little distance, it may be worth the effort.

Take yardie advise: DO NOT touch it. Some dealers just lazy and want you to run around. I saw quite a few brand new luxury vehicle with moisture build inside the lamp housing, both front and back. One of my lease Lexus had the same thing on the headlight (08 GS if I remember correctly).

It doesn't matter if you bought the car new or used, the factory warranty still effective. Call Lexus customer care to open a case, I'm sure they will sort thing out properly.

When they swap the headlight make sure they aim the beam correctly both side. Check it before you leave the service bay.
