Change Exhaust Bumper Cutouts?
I am a new Lexus owner, and I love my GS350 so far. One thing I can't get past is the (IMHO) gawdy chrome exhaust cutouts in the rear bumper. I admit that it's a personal taste thing, but what were the designers thinking? Why call attention to this part of the car? Anyway, is there any way to black out or replace these chrome pieces with blacked out parts (my car is Obsidian)? Thanks!

I just got mine and am studying options as well I want to do quad tips and have even thought about hack sawing out the area around the chrome and getting slip on quad tips. I crawled under the car yesterday and think its a long shot to make that plan work, but I don't give up easily.

Just got back from the wrapping place. $65. I think it looks great, although no telling how long it will last. The wrapper (yo! yo! yo! LOL) said that wrapping lasts 3-5 years, but it's easy to remove. We'll see. In the meantime I definitely like the look. If it doesn't last I may consider masking and spray painting the cutouts. Utterly ridiculous that Lexus designed the cutouts in chrome.

I went 3M dark graphite to match my roof and I really like the touch. The chrome on the GS is gaudy. I vinyl wrapped my windows trim like the 5 series black line and also my spindle and front bumper centre. Unique and more aggressive. Awaiting Think design canards in black to go on my Ultra White....really wanted the look I have seen a few years ago at a show but that body kit was not produced.

There is no right or wrong answer - if you like them that is your personal decision. But like the OP, I absolutely HATE the trend towards these goofy shaped exhaust "tips", which really isn't even a tip - its not even connected to the exhaust system.

+1 on not liking this trend.

yeah, to each his own. The new e class have these exhaust cut outs too, the 750 has them too, i personally dont see anything wrong with them and am a big fan. Makes the rear look a lot nicer
